[Version 0.1] Early Stage - Nesting Grounds Update

This version composes of the starting area of the game: Nesting Grounds. In this area, the player will get its weapon the Carving Knife, as well as battling the first boss and getting its first upgrade: Consume - a lifesteal attack that is similar to Hidden Machines in Pokemon games. Consume can steal HP if used in a battle, or restores (consumes) a number of HP when used to strike against interact-able objects in Nesting Grounds, such as eggs. Furthermore. attacks will be similar to HMs, so expect more to come.

Lastly, just a heads up, this game will be getting its inspiration from:

  • Hollow Knight (atmosphere)
  • Pokemon (grid-based sprites)
  • Persona 5 (attack flairs)

 [Version 0] DEMO

This is the first playable version of the game. This features the basic mechanics and concepts of what would this game will look like in the future. Currently, the game features:

  • Several cinematic cut scenes
  • Fully functional turn-based combat
  • "Game Juice" (screen shakes, screen fades, sound effects, and background music) Credit posted in game's summary.

Comments/Suggestions/Feedback are all welcome. Have fun venturing inside the World Tree.

Thank you for your feedback SnoreLacks, unfortunately I can't widen the rooms anymore because The one room, one level is the design for every level. Though i will add 3 new rooms that features the new trap so be sure to check it out.

P.S

Thanks for playtesting my game, hoping you would playtest my other games in the future. Cheers!

Thank you for your feedback Boruok,

1. I'll try and improve this text.

2. I already knew this bug and I'm planning to solve this on  beta.

3.  I can shorten the duration of transition based from your feedback.

Overall thanks for giving your time in downloading and playing my game. Your feedback is really helpful.

Hi, I'm Armanlone and I would like to share my project, The Thief (a placeholder name). I just wanted to see if some of you are interested in playing this jam-build game and share some opinions or incites regarding the gameplay mechanics. Please note that this is very early in game development and I have a little time in developing because of school and stuff... But if you wanted to try it out I am glad. Thanks.

Oh and a Key Visual from my game, or something like a poster for advertising, I don't know I just stole the term from New Game! an anime.

Thank you for letting share my creation.

Greeting to everyone,

Happy New Year everyone and welcome,

This time I implemented some small changes:

  1. Flashlight - In your comments, I've read that almost all of the player didn't get the mechanic of cursor and this is my bad. So I tried to make some changes by adding a UI or Icon of a Flashlight which will act as your cursor in the game. You can enable/disable the flashlight using your Left Click Button in Mouse.
  2. Coins - Some of the players try to get the coins inside the room and just forget about the Flashlight and ended up getting the player die without knowing why. So I tried to make it that some of coins can be interacted (which will be used in some kind of upgrade system) and fake, which are lures to players that forget to use the flashlight.

For the flashlight, some of you are not aware or comfortable with using the cursor as a way. Some suggested that it is better to make it a beam, and used it rather than hovering the cursor (flashlight) around the room. And honestly, I don't even know how to implement it. I tried using a beam that has some limitations like the angle and its measurement but I don't have any luck. Some ideas are applying a shader that is a Line Renderer + Sprite Mask to it, but I don't have any experience in making shaders.
