Surprisingly engaging for what it was!

Your humour is what made it - so I'd be interested to see more dialogue/story than just a single line every hundred clicks. The addition of more 'autoclickers' or other mechanics just to see the story quicker would have been good too. Great work!

Thanks so much!

Yes, the difficulty progression is something we didn't get much time to spend on, so it is quite inconsistent (especially depending on the upgrades you pick...) Someone choosing the Sanctuary upgrades (lane protectors) vs someone choosing the Cascade upgrades (faster falling notes) would have had extremely different experiences! And there is a lot of pay-off factors that we need to tweak.

Really appreciate the feedback, and we're glad you enjoyed the game!

Thank you so much for your comment!

You are 100% right on the  difficulty ramping (especially the solo!) This is something we would have tried to smooth out better with more time, but wanted to give an overall taste of what a game like this could end up becoming. Also, we discovered after the jam closed that there's a bug with one of the 'song transformation' options in the second last round where it doesn't properly add the 5th lane - so unfortunately I think you didn't get the full progressive experience.

For a final product, I think we might implement a 'never ending' mode and/or a death system or something else to encourage replayability. But for the game jam we wanted to make sure everyone could make it to some final version of the song. There would also be more time spent on the note charting and more songs with difficulty levels to make sure everything meshes together better.

Thanks again for your comment! Really glad you enjoyed the music and the game!

Thank you! Yes, we couldn't get the difficulty ramping right in time for the game jam - but we're glad we got the idea across!

Thank you so much for your kind comment! There were a couple late nights to get this done for sure...

Thank you! We were very happy with the layering effect in the end. I'm glad that feeling came through!

Thanks so much! Adding more juicy, satisfying visuals (like big rhythm games) is definitely on the to-do list when we have more time.
Yeah, agree with your theme comment. Initially, there were plans to have more of a "countdown" incorporated into the actual rhythm playing parts of the game. One idea was a countdown/slider which showed during the song, and the beats you played whenever the countdown hit 0 were additional points/added to combo etc. The decision in the end was that it added too much unnecessary complexity and that it was redundant with the normal gameplay of a rhythm game beat. There's probably some way we could have made an in between compromise to keep the theme stronger.
Thanks so much for your comment. Glad you enjoyed it!

Yes, that is absolutely fair. As the game jam deadline began to loom, we didn't have much time to test the difficulty and tune anything properly. Don't apologise for the length of comment - we love to hear feedback! Thanks for playing :)

Yeah, it was my first time creating a rhythm game, so spent more time figuring that out than I would have liked... Adding some juicy effects was definitely next on the list.
I tried your game! Really creative and fun. Thanks for sharing!

I was lucky enough to have some of my very talented musical friends on this jam!

Thank you! Yes definitely, we ended up doing a rhythm game because of how talented our musicans were.

Yeah definitely! I had no time at all to test the difficulty ramp up for my game during the jam haha. It was easier for me since the basic premise of rhythm game is understood but in retrospect, I think each level became harder too quick!

I imagine that trying to teach such a novel concept as in your game would be really difficult - but maybe there's something where a limited number of options are available to begin with and just let it unlock over time?

Simple, but fits the theme! Nice work on making a game within the jam timeframe. Hope you continue to make more games in the future :)

Great box pusher game! I really, really like the art and the visual effects you added.

Very impressive and felt really polished for such a short time. Great work!

Really cool idea and nice art! The fast rounds really had me struggling to process the images as quick as possible - especially the multi-hand vs multi-hand bullets.

Great work on this!

Great visuals, great art, simple but fun gameplay.

The shapes, numbers and balance parameters could definitely use some tweaking (but duh, this is a game jam haha).

Really impressed with such a great idea. Well done!

Incredible!!
I love chess and roguelikes, so this was a really fun combination!

One idea is maybe adding a little bit of variety to have different level types beyond just ramping up difficulty gradually. E.g. novelty or boss levels every 3rd one (opponent has all bishops? board size changing? extra kings to take)
Very impressed with what you were able to do in the given time. Well done!

Ahh damn - like some of the keys didn't work? Or input lag?
Thanks for playing!

Interesting little clicker game! I couldn't get used to the "horn" clock, but getting more and more clocks together and feeling the rhythm with them all scoring points together was great.

Good work!

I was shocked how interesting you could make these puzzles with such a simple mechanic (and such little time in the game jam!)

Great work!

Wow! Incredible stuff.

I went in expecting to only play some of it, but I got hooked and had to see it to the end. Initially gave me a bit of a 'Mouthwashing' feel. It really developed as I want and definitely enjoyed the somber tone.

Very impressed how much you were able to make for a game jam, well done!

Really good art and great idea!

The second level was really hard for me to get past - but that process of figuring out what I could do without was one of the most interesting parts of the game. As someone else said, the hit boxes for collisions were a lot larger than expected...

Fantastic work :)

Really creative and well constructed game. A lot to process at once, but really good experience!

That was actually so stressful. Incredible how much tension you could build so quickly with such simple gameplay.

Great art and sound design!

Great art and sound design!

Super creative!

Really engaging for such a simple idea. Great community feel to it too!

Super creative, really neat for a game jam.
Beautiful sound design and shockingly addictive.

A great take on the classic Asteroids game.

Well done!

Cute game!

New idea for a puzzle game, took me a while to really get used to how to solve the levels! Nice work :)

Beautiful game! Really steep learning curve, but really novel idea. Great work!

Great work!

Got a few parries in, but couldn't manage to beat him... Really incredible  title art and intro panels!

Novel idea to fit the theme!

Thanks for playing!

Yeah the menu softlock happens sometimes in the final version I uploaded... tempted to switch it back to the previous version, but instructions are more unclear. Appreciate the feedback and idea!

Hilarious, great graphics and amazing gameplay. I'm shocked how good a game this is in just this short a time. Well done!

Really great! I love a good puzzle game format and this worked well!

Cool idea! Very creative, and impressive to get the graphics to that state so quickly. Feels a bit like "Ace Attorney!" with some time, would be interesting to see how you could tweak the gameplay in the future to feel more satisfying to get right.

Really cool idea! I like the concept - slowly gaining more and more abilities and learning the layout of the map is a good feeling.
I think if there was a way to quick reset (after getting softlocked by the flies. And perhaps if the flies were a bit less punishing or the hitbox/timing of the punch was bigger.

Great work in such a short time!

Really nice art style! Good music and polish. A lot to explore with the concept - I'd be interested to see what other interesting puzzles you can come up with using the hat!
