Hey everyone, I'm looking to get some feedback on my demo so I can make sure things are going the way I intend them to. It's just answers to some simple questions which can be found in the main post, but I'll reiterate them here too.

1: Did you complete the demo?

2: How long did it take?

3: What difficulty were you playing?

4: Did you get a game over at all? If so how many tries did you do?

5: Did you try the other difficulties? If so, did they seem fair?

Got the basement floor layout done and decorated, same with the second floor. The next thing to do is put in the keys, make sure each enemy functions properly and is fair, then put in an end state. From that point it's adding in all the secrets and lore pieces.

Updated the demo. It contains a bit of new lore and content that further looks into the secrets of what's going on. You can see the change log and get the updated files on the game page linked in the first post.

A demo is now available! Click the giant link in the first post to get it.

Almost have a demo ready. Just doing some internal testing and in some time it will be available here in itchio.

Created a public developer discord where you can keep up with my projects. discord.gg/Syek4NQbrG

Just made a gettr account if that's your preferred social media platform. https://www.gettr.com/user/dargsy

I've finished the layout of the second floor of the factory. It's a little bit more winding with lots of halls and mostly storage rooms. I think I've got the second enemy going (of which I still wont give details about) but I haven't tested it yet.

THE INTRUDER
- What is it? -

The Intruder is a stealth horror game where you play as a child named Jimmy who woke up in an abandoned factory unsure of how he got there. However, some dreadful foot falls can be heard in the distance and Jimmy does not want to stick around to find out what lies in wait. The Intruder is inspired by games such as Faith and Five Nights at Freddy's using a style similar to what you might see in Atari games.

- What is the objective? -

Your objective is simple. Avoid your enemies by sneaking and hiding and find the keys needed to get out of the factory. Of course, as is normal with these kinds of games, there is optional objectives and hidden secrets that will help piece together the story and lead you to a better ending.

- Who Are The Enemies? -

There are three floors to the factory. A 1st floor, a second floor, and a basement. Each floor has its own enemy but I will only talk about the enemy on the first floor. The Masked Man. He will search, he will find, he will chase, and he will kill without remorse. The Masked Man will patrol around looking for you, if he spots you he will give chase. The only way to lose him is to break line of sight and hide. Not only can he see you, but he can also HEAR you. You have three levels of movement. Sneak, Walk, and Run. Each one will generate a different level of sound and move Jimmy at a different pace. Sneaking will help you reduce noise when walking over debris or moving through doors. Running will help you gain distance from your enemies but will generate lots of noise, especially if running through a door or over debris. If your enemy hears a noise, they will go to investigate it.

- Is There Anything Else To Aid Your Efforts? -

There are security monitors you can use to see the camera feeds around the factory. You can use those to scan around the floor you're on to find a safe route, find your enemy, or maybe even find that pesky key which has been eluding you. There is one security room per floor. Just be sure to watch your back while you're distracted. ;)

- Why Are You Making This? -

Inspiration struck. I also wanted to do it as a way of learning and practicing basic enemy AI since its a subject that has kept its secrets a mystery to me. Until now. My goal was to make an enemy system similar to the retro Metal Gear games, and I think I achieved something relatively close if not exact.

- Why Is It Called The Intruder? -

Its one of those titles where the meaning is not readily apparent and requires you dig into the story. Think of it as an incentive to look for all that secret stuff.

- How Much Is Complete? -

Uhhhh... I'd say around a solid 50%. Most of the gameplay is in place and only needs tweaking. The rest is building the environments, testing, and placing in the extra stuff. I might even release a demo, but I'm still on the fence about that one. I'd probably have the whole thing done within a month, if not then definitely next month. Assuming everything keeps going as smooth as it has so far.

- What Kind of Feedback Are You Looking For? -

Just answers to some simple questions.

1: Did you complete the demo?

2: How long did it take?

3: What difficulty were you playing?

4: Did you get a game over at all? If so how many tries did you do?

5: Did you try the other difficulties? If so, did they seem fair?

- Got Any Social Media To Follow? -

Absolutely! I have a twitter account @dargsy and a gettr account. I also have a public developer discord which you can join for free. I've mainly only talked about my main project on twitter and have recently made the getter account so its a bit sparse there. You can also keep up with development in those places.

Make guns 3d models and you have me.

A primer: I've been on a huge struggle lately. As a solo game dev who just likes creating things, I've gone through several hundreds of ideas. The first game I released was Idle Dargons Think of Treasure (Which is free to play if you want to check it out) and after I completed it I kind of lost track of what I was doing. So many ideas, so little time, hard to keep everything organized. People who follow me on twitter were probably getting annoyed with me not being able to settle on an idea. lol. But, I've finally decided that I need that to stop. I'm going to work on something I've wanted to do for a very long time. I'm going to make Dargsy's Adventure.

What is Dargsy's Adventure?

Dargsy's Adventure is an adventure game similar to The Legend of Zelda about a Dargon who is out to complete his Treasure Hunter initiation. Set in the cute kingdom of Dargonia, Dargsy faces off against scary monsters and dark dungeons to find magical artifacts which can be used to aid him on his travels. But a darkness looms over the kingdom, a darkness from before waiting to strike again. Is Dargsy ready for what fate is about to spring on him?

What kind of gameplay will be in Dargsy's Adventure?

Similar to The Legend of Zelda, the game is presented in a top down 2D fashion. Everything is in real time as you combat monsters in the overworld and in dungeons. As you progress, you will gain magical artifacts which will aid you in both combat and puzzle solving. Some examples of these artifacts, include but are not limited to, magical bomb bag and arrow quiver that holds more than it should, a spell that launches a beam from the sword that allows the user to teleport to wherever the beam lands, a circlet that allows the wearer to walk over fire and lava, and a rod of fire that shoots blasts of hot flames forward.

Whos making Dargsy's Adventure?

Me. So far the only other people who have been related to the project in any way are people who have made sound and music resources. Though I am open to getting custom music assets done sometime in the future.

How far along is Dargsy's Adventure?

I've gone beyond the planning stages and have started putting together the game logic code. So far, I have basic sword combat down, the bases for item usage, hud with upgradeable health and magic, movement, bases for monster design, and basic tiles for a test map.

What the heck is a dargon?

A dargon is a cute bipedal reptilian being. They have no wings, no natural magic ability (though can utilize magic artifacts) and a breath weapon of many different kinds of elements. Except fire. Cause fire is dangerous.

How can I follow this project?

I make regular posts on twitter about my progress @Dargsy and on the #DargsysAdventure hashtag and I will be making some not as frequent posts here in the dvelog forum. Once I'm ready to make a project page here, I will.

Any screenshots?

Since I'm so early in development, not really. But there are some dev shots on my twitter account.

- Final Message -

Hope to see some of you on twitter or following my progress here. This is something I've wanted to make for a long time, so I hope everyone can like or love what I create.

Idle Dargons Think of Treasure is a cute idle/clicker game with hand drawn graphics where you collect shinies to fund the building of a new kingdom for the Dargons. There are plenty of upgrades with a prestige system and an arm full of achievements to keep you busy. This is my first game I've made and I would love people to come check it out and have fun with it!

If you want to follow any of my other game design endeavors you can follow me on my Twitter at https://twitter.com/dargsy

There are two conditions for unlocks. You need 10 of the previous upgrade and a certain level milestone.

I've moved on from this project and am working on something else that's taking a lot of my time, so this game will likely only get bug fixes, balance changes, or needed features like the recent autosave update.

If you want, you can follow development on my newer project (a skilling RPG set in the same world as this game) by following my twitter account https://twitter.com/dargsy

What sort of warning? The description box says exactly what it does.

The game has been updated to include an autosave. Redownload and overwrite the old files.
