God, the idea that a prediction market interface could be overlaid over live news coverage is depressingly believable. Great micro narrative to tell for the O2A2 Jam!

I liked the art style used for the character sprite, and the TV screen was a  very clever framing device given the art restrictions. Good choice of music too, it built up well as the tension ramped up.

Great work!

Very clever use of the O2A2 wordcount! I really enjoyed the use of looping questions with the answer/response options slowly changing for the worse.

The art, writing, and voice acting all come together well to create a great and quietly menacing "love interest". Great work!

Great work on the VN! The second ending definitely caught me off guard. A clever choice of setting/story with the O2A2 restrictions.

I really liked your character design - there were lots of little details in the art like the lighting playing out over hair and outfit, and the texture to the hair and flower. The background work made me laugh as I'm pretty sure my own school ball 100 years ago looked very similar.

Great work!

A bittersweet and mysterious story! You've managed to capture a very somber mood through the sunset lighting and music choice. It fits the writing well! The use of VRoid Studio for your character let you capture a lot of emotion through facial expression.

I enjoyed that while we got small glimpses of what the world might look like, you never specifically spelled out what has happened or how the characters have come to be in their situation.

Great work!

A very entertaining game! The dead but cuter ending got a good laugh out of me.

I loved the character design, and the background music was atmospheric and fit the game well.

The voice acting was great, it really brought the character to life. Impressive to fully voice act the character's lines given the time restraints. Great work!

Oh gosh, what a lovely little game! Genuinely has me tearing up. The art is incredible, the writing touching, the music a lovely accompaniment. I loved how dynamic and animated the UI is.

This was a wonderful glimpse into a strange and beautiful wider world - I've just added Upwards, Rain to my wishlist and I'll definitely have to pick it up in the future.

A clever idea for a setting/story to tell within the restrictive word limit of the Jam! Fun to see the drama come to a head at the end, it definitely felt like the best moment from a season of reality tv.

Vibrant art and character design, I really liked the colour choices throughout all the art including the ui elements.

Great work!

The game builds a fantastically melancholic atmosphere, with the writing, art and sound design, especially considering the O2A2 restrictions. The art especially is really gorgeous.

The use of your SFX was clever, hinting at the situation outside, which only emphasises the strange surreal calm of the conversation.

The core idea of the game is one I always enjoy seeing explored in games and movies. Great work!

What a wonderfully bittersweet story. I hadn't read the page description before playing the game so getting the third ending last and having a little context provided by the photo made the whole game punch harder!

The art, both in game and main menu, is stunning, and I really love the music track for the game. It fit the mood well. Great work!

(1 edit)

Beautiful artwork, and a clever use of fog, silhouettes and colour to get the most out of it within the bounds of the O2A2 restrictions. The music was very fitting too, I liked the chimes. UI was gorgeous too!

I enjoyed the writing, the situation felt very fey or yokai-esque. It felt like there was probably some secret folklore solution to escape the situation the player wasn't privy to. I got three different endings which is impressive given the word limit. Great work!

Excellent vibes! An impressive quality of voice acting given the short time frame (especially all done in one afternoon, wow!). The layering effect you've managed with the voice lines definitely conveys a being of power and mystery while still retaining comprehensibility - I've played AAA games trying to convey the same feelings in the audio that have done a worse job at it.

The writing was atmospheric and believably archaic-sounding while nailing an interesting tone and subject. Great work!

Very clever use of the limitations of O2A2 to tell your story! Really loved the use of external "characters" to explore the internal. That framing reminded me a bit of Disco Elysium - I could certainly imagine this voice acted.

Simple but effective art, and a fun use of the UI to have the conversations as an ongoing 'log' - that added to the feeling of sitting in a room endlessly rebuking and failing to push yourself through different lenses.

Great work!

A fun story to tell within the limits of the O2A2 Jam! I played through to get (I think) all three endings. Even years after a customer service job, it's always the worst customer interactions that stick around in your brain, isn't it?

The art was great and very attention grabbing. I know it was for the O2A2 Jam so you had limits on art but I'd love to see more characters and backgrounds in the style. Reminded me of the exaggerated features in something like No I'm Not a Human.

Great work!

I really liked your art style and fun character design!

Very vibrant colour use despite it being a nighttime scene. The lights on the cityscape gave comic-book vibes.

The writing was fun, and I enjoyed the two characters' interactions. Great work!

Loved the character art in this VN, and a clever use of the reflection both as part of the story and within the limits of the O2A2 Jam.

I enjoyed the story - it felt like the intro sequence to a larger mystery game about investigating the town.

The music was fitting, but if I were to offer some small feedback, perhaps a different sound effect for progressing the dialogue box next time. Occasionally, there'd be a smaller sentence where the sound hadn't finished playing by the time I clicked again and it would overlap. That aside, very enjoyable!

Nice work! You've done a great job of blurring the lines between a sleep muddled mind vs a possibly entity encounter.

The blue/black 1 bit art was striking and fit the mood, and I especially liked the music underneath it all.

A really stunning layout with the UI against the background and sprite - both in the main menu and in the game. It made it feel like reading an old yellowing document.

The sad story was told well within the word restrictions.I can't really imagine what it'd be like not seeing the sun for months.

The somber music fit well with the mood. I really enjoyed it!

Thanks so much for playing the game, and your kind review!

I definitely agree with you on how to expand it - the original idea I had kicking around in my head was to have the game occur on multiple days over the span of weeks, with the option to leave the crane presented at each junction.

But I was inspired to actually get around to writing and drawing it because of the O2A2 Jam and its restrictions, and I'm happy with how the idea came out within the 1000 word/1 asset limits.

Thanks again for giving my game a go!

Wonderfully eerie setting, finding a silent ghost city on another planet, and then getting hunted through its streets. Very cool idea!

Thank you so much, I really appreciate the feedback - thanks for giving my game a go!

I really like your use of the typing game/typing interface to add a sense of panic and urgency to the dialogue! Great visuals, too!  Very clever concept :)
