This is a bug that comes from the original version of the game. It's been patched out of the current branch of the game, but this mod is built on an older branch from before that patch.

The mod author is looking into updating the mod for the new patch, though, so keep an eye on this thread.

I see.

Well, I think OldPapaSoul will get onto it shortly, as they're still doing work on this project.

Make sure to double-check which version you're playing.

OldPapaSoul has created an updated version that has a lot of bugfixes, but hasn't had an opportunity to upload it to Itch.io yet, so it's only available via a link in the devlog.

... Actually, I believe that this exact bug is specifically addressed in that update.

Just a quick question:

Is this the version currently on Itch.io, or did you download the version linked in the devlog?

OldPapaSoul hasn't had an opportunity to upload the new version yet, and you may be playing the older, much buggier version.

You're likely playing on the older version of the game.

The developer has created a new version that has a lot of bugfixes (including this exact glitch), but can't update the version on Itch.io because of Game Jam rules.

To play the updated version, access the devlog (which can be found just under the download links) and download the new version from the link found there.

Just be aware that it's based on an old, buggier version of the game (at least so far as I'm aware at time of posting).

I haven't used the engine myself, but those might be in place as defaults for debugging or stability reasons.

I've heard enough anecdotes about weird-behaving code (and seen enough strange glitches in other games) to know that sometimes seemingly-useless files are actually doing something important.
