Hey there Zflocco, I would like to thank you for playing and taking the time to give me this amazing list of feedback , I am super thankful for this, and its duly noted for the time I revisit PHOSPHORUS.

And I would like to add that coming in with expectations to art, be it movies or games, is simply human, and we love to imagine, so don’t worry, I too sometimes make games that rely on expectations and then subvert it (like i did for CuteSweeper), in hindsight, I feel PHOSPHORUS has a lot of “friction” in its core identity if you know what i mean, the game can be a lot more “friendly” to the player which i wasn’t able to polish off with my limited time and skillset back then, so feedback and expectations like yours really helps me find where i can improve and how i can polish on my skills, thank you so much and i like the infinite stairwell SCP, thank you, might pull on its idea for a future game!

I spent a while doing what felt like an infinite loop

oh no! I wanted to push the theme gameplay-wise but not like that! ;-;

to add a map that gets drawn in as the player explores. The map then resets when the player is out of matches. This would then allow you to expand the gameplay to randomize the map each time the player starts over, giving a new experience.

This is awesome! That’s the kind of push i would like to add for phosphorus next (if i manage to pull it off), i love the idea of procedurally generated levels (maybe i can reduce the size of the level while still keeping the difficulty at a manageable level too! exciting stuff!)

just having some creature wandering around that the player has to avoid would add to the tension when it comes to your match supply.

now, that’s another great idea! Thank you for hosting, playing and taking the time to provide very in-depth feature suggestions, these are truly going to take the game to the next level (pun, hehe)

I really really appreciate this and I hope to use the very valuable feedback i got here to improve my future games and PHOSPHORUS when i get the chance.

I must agree about the landmarks and the not-so-clarified matchstick approach! I was going all in on the idea of multitasking with our minds and in hindsight i realize, its not a fun playstyle for a lot of people!

I’m noting all feedback and feature suggestions for the off-chance i may revisit this game with a team so, this is going to be extremely useful, thanks for being very kind and clarifying on what parts you liked and didn’t, it really makes a world of difference when we get clear feedback like that! I really appreciate it!

Thank you Neviah for playing PHOSPHORUS! Will start adding colorblind friendly toggles from now on in my games, i’m truly sorry about it! i dont have plans to revisit phosphorus (as a jam game or solo) but if i do revisit it later with a team, i would make sure that phosphorus also has a colorblind mode!

Thanks for playing and i am going to enjoy watching your playthrough!

is there a community like discord for this tool? i would love to join people working using this!

made this with sdfModeler first try:

Hahaha

sent a req!

CLASSIC NOT JAM EXCELLENCE!!!

i am sadness

Audio nodes used are AudioStreamPlayer and AudioStreamPlayer3D, some are positional like the LED light buzz, some are animated audio tracks - match crackling, the match ignition sounds

The climax is rendered as frames in figma and composed/edited in Da Vinci Resolve (free edition)

I don’t really have any proper tutorials to recommend as phosphorus is more “layered” audio instead of using a bigger audio management technique

I used the basic Master bus, added some streamrandomizers, and turned the audio volumes a bit, if you want to create a cooler audio region, you can try blending audio with positional overlap (Area3Ds with audio node child, these are very flexible and really good at making the audio seamless and realistic) I will try to find proper tutorials and send you

I had a musician friend who jammed with me and she taught me a lot about it, so I didn’t use tutorials

Using random position, volume, range, etc adds a lot of variety to our audio and that randomness is crazy effective at pushing the idea of “being there”

Hello! Thank you, I’m glad you found Phosphorus fun!

  • My idea was to make people use paper and pen as an aid to sketch out the level as that they progress and find the exit, as some players might want a tougher challenge without any such extras, i let the player tackle the onus of the exhaustive exploration involved

  • there is a climax for the game, and I believe it offers one of the best closures it can give to Phosphorus, and no jumpscares, I don’t like jumpscares or screamers in quiet games as they tend to sometimes cause panic attacks in people, so I would hate to hurt someone even accidentally, maybe I will include jumpscares in my other games, but they won’t be as quiet as phosphorus if that’s the case

  • thank you, I explored a lot in audio effects and split them into multiple layers to fill the world around the player, I am so glad that people liking the visuals and the audio is a recurrent thing, audio has been one of my biggest areas of exploration and I have found that audio design is very very underrated! I hope to continue with more such explorations in my future games!

Thanks for playing!

Itch Game Page Image Guide & Templates - https://hedgiespresso.itch.io/itch-page-image-templates

Time to toot! 🥳

Hello! this is where this particular theme comes from: https://alienmelon.itch.io/allthemes (AlienMelon makes BEAUTIFUL themes)

The one on my profile was done back in 2023 as an exercise to learn CSS, its very bad bahaha, feel free to go through and ask doubts about any of my CSS themes from my games! As fartbox was a meme game, i wanted to use a quick “well-known” css template as an inside joke with some friends XD!

Congrats on your first game jam! Don’t worry about the deadlines! I think you can contact one of the organizers to submit a little later too! I’m so glad that you participated and made an initiative to learn game dev, from here on, the sky is the limit! All the best, i cant wait to the see the wonders you will do!

Thank you for the wonderful playthrough and comment, we are so glad you had fun! The comments layout have been fixed, thanks to you! and we have improved the game’s over-all look and eased the difficult while still retaining the masochistic nature! Hope you have a great day!

Sorry about the bug! Seems to be something web-specific and we are working to fix it soon, along with more goodies and improvements!

Thanks a lot for clarifying and explaining! We really really appreciate it!

Thank you for playing! Can you add more details about what platform you are on so that we can investigate the bug?

We are working on an definitive update to future proof the game now, the new tiles are in the works 🤩! How would you say the difficulty was handled? Was the Minesweeper game loop engaging?

thank you for playing! we made this as a submission for the “secret cult horror” jam, we encourage you to play other entries of the jam for more horror titles!

We appreciate your sincere feedback very much thank you for helping us better our craft, we will try to implement your advice soon!

Thank you for playing!

Thank you so much for the encouraging words, we really really appreciate it!

Hello Stuck Scarf, we have enacted some changes to the minesweeper gameloop to make it more balanced and engaging, so we would like to reinvite you to test the game and see if it hits the sweet spot for you this time around, thank you for playing ❤️

After a day of feedback across many discord servers and friends, we got back to the chopping board and:

  • added some empty cells
  • made mines appear around 6-8(around that number, real scale is 6 to 10)
  • game difficulty is preserved by ooga booga mine placement

mobile players can play the game without any hiccups totally on the web build, they can use the heart which has the no. of mines to toggle the flag/reveal modes now

Thank you so much for the lovely review! We will continue refining the Minesweeper gameloop to make it more engaging!

can you please try playing with someone connected to your same WI-FI network? This is our first networking game implementation, so we could only implement LAN P2P connection, we are sorry for the inconvenience and hope you get to have fun with your friends!

Heya, btw I was thinking, as you have a growing collection of fonts, could you set up a single bundle of all of them? It doesn’t have to updates often, but I think it would nice to have a single download for all your fonts, thank you and no pressure, I understand it may not be in your plans and that’s okay!

THIS IS YOUR HANDWRITING?????? wowowow, it looks so nice!

Thank you so much playing and thank you for making super cool and beautiful fonts! Imma hop on “switch with me” asap!

Thanks for playing ButterStik!I Hahaha, sorry,i initially had the door be very very obvious and then it was too hand-holdy,so i made it a bit more hidden, hope you had fun!

I sincerely appreciate your time and effort for making and sharing this wonderful font, thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️

Hiya! Maybe, we can try to convert kenney.nl icon packs? To reduce your workload and also simplify/get the basics down faster? Btw, does this bitmap format have a size limit on the no of glyphs?

Holy, that’s so cool, do we request icons via github-issues of decker-fonts or is there a separate way to request them?

Ahh, so you are requesting a widget group that can be copied/pasted, I guess, this can be implemented as a widget library thing? (Pretty sure this is a huge project in itself, maybe can be a importable module, so as to not bloat vanilla decker) A work-around I suggest for now is shift-clicking all components of the desired group/elements and then pasting them elsewhere, btw can you provide more context as by canvas do you mean the workspace area of decker or do you mean the canvas widgets in particular?

thank you so much sunil! this was very informative, i tried the sleep method.. but i goofed it lol, this explained it very well, thank you

Thank you so much Gamer! 🙏🙏🙏

How to display an image after a delay such as sys.ms? i understand display.text but dont know how to approach image displaying, thanks for the help in advance guys!

I learnt a lot from this, definitely know how to make a world much spacious in lore because of that tome-chapters trick, it sounds so flawless! and, whats that really cool looking font called?

Hope to see more of these if you get the time! Thanks for the pleasant read!
