You have to go back and find Augustus and gossip with him after finding story 4. I found it pretty late game but I think you can find it almost anytime after seeing story 4.

I am sorry to hear about this issue. This issue might be related to the fact that the version you downloaded onto your device to not work with your computer. If no other version seems to be working please report the bug to this link: https://www.theforestoflove.com/bugs. As for the lag, if playing on the downloaded version still has a low frame rate and resolution I would recommend downloading razer cortex: https://www.razer.com/cortex. I found this to really improve my game play and its free. To add the forest of love into Razer Cortex's game page you will need to find the + symbol and add the files onto it. Hopefully this could help you in the future and if none of the versions with your device please report the bug. Thank you.

As the game currently stands, the most you can customize the game is by going to options to lower or increase the music or lower or increase the effects. Potentially, in the future you might be able  there might be more settings to change controls and graphics however I cannot promise this. Maybe in the future this will be added so players with lower quality equipment can still play the game or at least improve lag.

I am sorry to hear about you losing all of your progress in the game. If you wanted to you could downlead the game onto your computer and then all of your progress should remained saved. I would recommend this method over playing in window especially since future updates are going to make the game even longer. Also the game runs better if you download it onto your computer.

Sorry that something like that happened to you. I imagine you play on android since you said you played on mobile. I cannot offer to much help other than telling you to reset the game data and try again. If you would also add what type of phone you are using to play this game on and what type  of build you downloaded that would help the developers a lot and hopefully fix the problem in the future.

You are correct, there are three other character slots. However, sadly they are not available to see in the current build and will most likely be interactable when act 3 releases. That being said,  There is a chance this winter if they update the game for the blessing of the bells that they will make an appearance. However it is likely they will not appear in it and will only be interactable when act 3 releases.

It's most likely going to take a while for act 3 to be released however, recently a new update called Blessing of the Bells came out. It gives you a new pleasantly long side quest and might even add more thing when December come around being that it is a winter event.
