Answered — thanks CoderGenius72, and you are right. Writing down what I actually measured, logged out, because “is it indexed?” and “does it rank?” look identical from outside and I was reading one as the other.

The project IS indexed:

• itch.io/games/newest/tag-nonogram and itch.io/games/newest/tag-picross both list it;
• searching “nonogram sampler” returns it as the first result, and “free nonogram” returns it too.

What made me doubt it: the one-word search itch.io/search?q=nonogram, and page 1 of the tag browse in its default order, do not show it. Those are ordered by popularity, so a two-day-old project with no ratings sits far down a list of hundreds — nothing is stuck.

So for anyone landing here with the same question: the check that answers “am I indexed?” is the NEWEST-sorted tag browse plus a specific multi-word search. A generic one-word query answers a different question (“do I rank?”), and the answer to that one for a brand-new page is no, by design.

No action needed from staff. Thanks again for the July review.

Following up on this thread with a related question, since staff kindly resolved the original issue here in July (thanks again for that!).

The account has been indexing fine since then — but a NEW project we published on Aug 9 (https://blobsmith.itch.io/pixel-logic-sampler, a free browser-playable HTML game) is not appearing in search results or in the tag browse pages (e.g. nonogram/picross) after 48+ hours, while our older projects continue to show up normally for the same tags.

Is a per-project review period expected even for accounts that have already been cleared, and is there any way to check a specific project’s indexing status? No rush — just want to make sure it’s the normal pipeline and not something stuck on our side (the project is published, has tags set, and is playable in browser).

Good writeup — the (len - 2) % 12 rule alone will save people an afternoon. Same rabbit hole, companion .tres side: we generate TileSet resources programmatically and load-test them in real 4.7, and these three cost us time the same way:

1. .tres string fields are parsed with escape sequences. A terrain/resource name containing a quote or backslash must be written as " or \, or the file refuses to load with “Parse Error: Unterminated string”. Anything user-supplied that ends up in a name field needs escaping before you write the text.

2. If you build the TileSet via script instead of writing text: TileData physics must be written AFTER the atlas source is attached with add_source(). Physics layers belong to the TileSet, so before add_source() the TileData sees zero physics layers and collision writes error out (or silently do nothing, depending on the call). Ordering is the whole fix.

3. Terrain peering bits, if you generate autotiles: in “Match Corners and Sides” mode a corner bit (say NE) only participates when both adjacent side bits (N and E) agree. Setting corners without their sides looks valid in the file and simply never matches while painting.

And I can confirm the tile-center physics origin from the end of your post — hit the exact same half-tile offset before figuring it out.

One of my projects shows a blank tile in my creator dashboard, while the public page looks fine.

The originalb derivative of the cover image returns HTTP 500, and the variants the public page uses (315x250#cb, original) decode fine — so the upload itself looks OK. Example:

It has been like this for four days (first seen 2026-07-27, still broken today), and re-saving the project page did not regenerate it.

Is there a way to force that one derivative to be regenerated?

Checked logged-out: neither project appears in search (even by exact title), tag browse pages, or the newest-tools feed — so I assume the first-project seller review from the ‘Getting indexed’ guide is still pending.
