I may have unknowingly evoked something similar to the white savior trope and realized it when it was too late, but that doesn't give you the right to insult and accuse my person. You basically made up that I'm pro colonizer and pro Isreal without having no idea who I am and where I'm from. Do you understand? You're making things up about me to insult me based on my story. You were offended because of a fictional character that you assumed that was supposed to be the average depiction of a muslim, but you offended my person, a real individual in real life. Hello there, Memo! So nice to see a fellow yanjam participant here! Sorry for the late reply. I haven't been checking itch.io due to college and exams. Today I had my first exam so I'm finally a bit free. Thank you so very much for your kind words! It means a lot to me, especially coming from a fellow vn indie dev! I'm so glad that I managed to pull such deep emotions out of you with my writing! All in all, this was a huge love letter to enemies to lovers story! I just wrote according to my personal fantasies. I wasn't thinking whether people would like my writing choices or not. But receiving so many compliments from you seems unreal to me now seeing how so many people seem to think that Zehir's emotional switch felt rushed and inconsistent 😅

I've had fantasies about being in a fictional world where I'm a fighter and I come across an enemy. He's so violent and relentless when he tries to kill me. But then something happens to him and he completely switches to a totally vulnerable and childish exterior and becomes completely dependent on me. Oddly specific? Kind of. I couldn't find this dynamic in any indie yandere visual novel. I found something similar with Kanato from Diabolik Lovers or the Bloody Twins from Heart no Kuni no Alice. I wanted to see more of it so I needed to take matters in my own hands. There is nothing slow and steady about what I was looking for. I realized that this seems rushed or inconsistent to many people, but what can I say? I just created the visual novel I wanted to create. My real main regret was not giving more cute moments between Zehir and mc. There wasn't enough budget. Originally the player would actually take Zehir to mc's house where they would do all kinds of cute things together. Zehir looks tame now, but he'll snap if mc does something he doesn't like or if he feels like they're cheating on him. And the consequences will be catastrophic to everyone around. Zehir doesn't care about hurting innocent humans to punish mc. He doesn't stop hating humans even when mc becomes special to him. Hell, he won't hesitate to kill her if he feels like she's betraying him. Mc really has to take care of Zehir and keep him content.

I was aware that the fact that he's a muslim and is labelled a terrorist in game could be taken as me repeating the horrible stereotype that muslims are terrorists. But that was not my intention at all. I just thought that it'd be cool to make him turkish and it's a fact that most turkish people are muslim. I wasn't even thinking about current global issues. I was inspired by the jews situation during world war 2. I wanted to create a story about 2 species at war with each other and the human race siding with the nazi like side. Not all ubyrs are turkish. Zehir happens to be turkish and a ubyr. My other game Infectious Doctor has a ubyr who isn't turkish, Louhi. I didn't even think that far ahead, that a minority/poc falling in love with the white woman could be offensive too. But that's not an excuse. I'm so sorry for offending you and your people in any way. I just wanted to create a enemies to lovers war story about two different species falling in love in the end.

Hey there, Izzy. Thank you for your comment. About the lack of environment/background descriptions, English is not my first language so these childish, poorly written descriptions already took a lot from me. I try to read books and newspapers but those descriptions don't come naturally to me. No wonder it seems like how a 10 years old would write. That's why I focused so much on Zehir's lines. He is the star of the show. I needed to compensate the lack of environment descriptions with character dialogue. I actually would love a native speaker to handle the descriptions I can't write for the life of me for me. As long as your writing doesn't contradict the characters' psychology and behavior(Like for example, you wouldn't be able to refuse Zehir. If you did that, he'd kill you right then and there for "leading him on" and then himself. He's the kind of yandere that throws a tantrum if he doesn't get what he wants from his LI. If that doesn't work, he gets pissed and kills them. He has that in common with the other yandere from another game I created, Louhi. I guess we're just too used to yandere men who would never hurt their LI. Mine are violent. Zehir is also totally the type to speedrun a relationship and ask for marriage after a few days so that sudden kiss wasn't completely out of character.), I'd absolutely love some help, if you're still interested in the kind of yandere Zehir is, ofc. I do think I should give much more options and improve the other characters' dialogue. I guess you already read in the comments that this was rushed. But the project wasn't just lacking due to lack of time, it was because of lack of BUDGET too. I wanted to create something that looks beautiful so I commissioned talented artists to do the job and that was very expensive for me, especially the backgrounds. That's why the players won't get more than a few locations as I can only commission a few backgrounds so I have to be very selective with it. Later I even realized that there are some Zehir's facial expressions that are missing but I decided to deal with it and improvise. Btw, are you an artist? Can I see your work? If you're reading this and you're still interested, I'd love your help.

I fell in love with J. Rod's voice! I couldn't believe that someone so talented would be interested in working on my visual novel! I got so lucky! It took me a while to choose the music because I wanted it to capture the way Zehir dominantes the scenes. Since he's turkish, I chose turkish/middle eastern music. I'm glad you liked it! People seem to have liked the music so I'm glad I got that right ^^

At first MC views Zehir as a wild animal that needed to be euthanized. Later she views him as a pet that needs to be tamed and trained. They'll learn to see him as a person later on as they start living together. Zehir developed BPD because he lost his parents too young. Also, lost the very few friends he considered brothers throughout the years. Lowkey some it was already in his DNA(he's naturally dependent), but these events triggered the manifestation of the BPD. 

Some people were put off by Zehir's sudden change of attitude, saying that he threw away his motives and I can understand the feeling. But I feel like these players misunderstood Zehir's character a bit. Zehir is not some Martin Luther King like activist trying get fair rights to his people. He doesn't have some great motives. He wasn't angry because his kind is being treated unfairly. He was angry because HE and HIS family were treated unfairly. He's selfish and self-centered. He lives in his own world. He's just some emotionally dependent, unstable individual whose main purpose is having access to love and affection who went berserk because he was under the threat of losing his only family member left. Once that happened, he had no reason to fight anymore because fighting for his kind was never his real motive. But I digress 😅

I should've added on the game page that the demo is essentially a kinetic visual novel. I'm also bothered by the lack of choices. I was going to follow your idea at first, but I didn't have much time. I just came up with a deadline for me. I wanted to finish this before college and in time for the yanjam 2026. The result turned out rushed. The game jam is not over yet so maybe I should've worked more on it. 

I initially wanted to add pronoun choices but that'd take more time and I didn't know how to do it. Again, should've worked on it more 🤦🏻‍♀️

Unfortunately, I won't expand the worldbuilding much. Zehir and mc's relationship will be the focus of this game. I'll leave that to another game where the worldbuilding is the focus.

I'm so glad you liked it! I wanted Zehir to be a good representation for muslims. At first I was scared that people would get the wrong idea and think I'm saying that muslims are murderous crazy people, but Zehir just happens to be crazy and muslim at the same time. He's turkish after all and 99% of the turkish population is muslim. So did I get it right?

Thank you so much for your comment! Yes, at first I made it so Zehir looked like nothing more than a detestable, remorseless murderer. But as you played more, you start to understand why he acts like that. Of course I still think he deserves to be punished as murdering thousands of innocent people is completely evil, unjustifiable and unforgivable. I think you brought up an interest point about mc. Thing is mc thinks they're better than him because deep down they believe ubyrs aren't people, like lesser humans, as if they weren't as much of a complete person as a human is, even if they don't express it like Eira. You're not the only person here who thinks mc is a total hypocrite. I agree with you and I was aware of it when writing this story. I'm surprised that someone understood Zehir's thought process so well. You're spot on about Zehir. He's extremely emotionally dependent and can't stand being alone first and foremost. He'll throw away his motives just to have someone by his side. He would cling to someone who killed his own people so long as they give him love and companionship. Family is just that important to him. He's also a very sensitive borderline so his emotions change with environmental triggers at the blink of an eye. The reason behind the rivalry between ubyrs and sídhes is a looong story. I plan on creating another game expanding this story. Zehir is just one of the many characters that are part of this universe. I can't wait to write the scenes of Zehir and mc having cute moments together and Zehir showing a more yandere side! From now on, I can focus entirely on their relationship since they'll be living together. Thank you very much for playing this small game and leaving a kind comment! It means a lot to me! Zehir is canonically borderline. An environmental trigger can switch his emotions in seconds. Yes, he's very clingy and has abandonment issues because he lost his parents when he was too young. That contributed to his childishness and neediness. Yes, I made it so you could see his side and why he's the way he is even if he's a mass murderer. That might be a turn off to some people. I'm glad you liked the voice acting. I think the voice actor did a phenomenal job here. Even I got shivers down my spine in some parts. The music was copyright free, but I tried to choose turkish/middle eastern music to fit Zehir who is canonically turkish. I'm glad you liked the musics I chose. Overall, I'm overjoyed that you had fun playing this little demo! I hope I don't disappoint in future updates 🙏🏻

I understand. Mc is supposed to be a hypocrite. I knew they would annoy some people. As for Zehir, he's the clingy, needy type. He hates being alone above all else. He was prepared to off himself because everyone he cared about died too. But since mc showed him a little bit of kindness, he clung to them, even if they are from the organization that killed his foster father. But I understand if it bothered you.

Oh, trust me, that's a looong story. Zehir is just one of the many characters from a fantasy story that I have in mind. I didn't explain things such as the Astral Shards, the power system, Lady Eris, the reason behind the feud between sídhes(irish fairies) and ubyrs(turkish/slavic vampires/witches) because I wanted to focus on the relationship between Zehir and mc. That's what matters for now. I'll try to explain more things like these in future updates. 

Anyway, I'm so glad you liked Zehir's design and the voice acting! Zehir is one of my favorite ocs so I tried to give him a meaningful design. The artist did an amazing job. The artist really drew Zehir as if he were their own oc. Props to them. I personally loved the voice acting too. The voice actor really gave it his all 👌🏻

Haha why? Do you think Zehir is similar to Louhi? They do have some striking similarities like wanting to feel loved and hating being alone. But the differences are there. Zehir is more of a crybaby manchild while Zehir is more of a Mother Gothel caretaker type. Canonically Zehir and Louhi are besties. Zehir loves that Louhi wants to take care of him while Louhi loves that Zehir lets him take care of him.

Anyway, I'm so glad that you liked the rollercoaster of emotions! I'm also very happy to know that you liked the character designs!
