Hi!! I'm two weeks late (whoops!) but in case you need more entries, I thought I'd throw mine into the hat!

I've also worked on two of my friends' entries here too!

FeatherBoy entry!! I was looking forward to this one ever since I saw the recruitment document!!!
I absolutely love the cinematography in this entry, super stylised and goodness the voice cast was superb! There's lot to say but I think the closest thing to my heart is the singing because I really love original music in games.
It's super fun to write some for my own game - Nova's Ship, but also to see it in other jam entries, so shout-out to Benjamin, Marcus and Will because it's not exactly the easiest thing to do in such a short amount of time!
Awesome work and I am, of course, looking forward to more of you and the team's work!
Played it with a friend watching and hoooooo boy, the story and the art made me super uncomfortable (as intended) in the best way possible! I'm a sucker for great cinematography in media and I think this really excels in it!
Thanks again koko for being one of the first to play Nova's Ship! It was super fun to see a fellow sea AND whale game, taken in an entirely different direction.
:( horse girl but also I hope I gave the worm indigestion >:(
Thank you for your kind words Altila!!
I don't know which one you were referring to in specific but I was this close to deciding not to write in Malay and Mandarin lol, but then again SEA pride and I thought if it can resonate with at least one person, that's one person more that I made feel seen :3
Hello hello Koko and fellow whale/ocean game!!
Thank you for your words! Us in the team, love to hate Tzihuatlayahuallohuatzin and he's one of my faves lmao
Audio will be patched in soon! Something got borked on our end so we're looking to update over the weekend!
Also omg, a voice actor of mine recommended Within! Excited to check it out soon!
Thank you so much Asher! I'm super glad you've enjoyed Undergrowth!
(I saw this a little late, sorry!)
The team and I went into Spooktober knowing that Undergrowth would've been a 'sleeper entry', because it's definitely not a straight in-your-face horror, typical spooky monster-esque nor is it a fun time celebratory annual event (which are great btw!). I approached Undergrowth with the concept of writing a script for a movie, hoping to reflect real and raw human emotions, and I'm glad it has been well received 🥹
With regards to the point about the voice cast, I think that the sheer numbers definitely contributed to part of the problem(?). By a 'month-long game jam' scale, 18 voice actors is ambitiously huge in numbers 💀💀
I definitely have them and our voice director to thank for delivering such a wonderful performance, huge pleasure to edit their audio too! It's always cool to see how others feel about our game, I deeply appreciate hearing different opinions!
And sorry (not sorry) for the cliffhangers >:3c
But not to worry! Updates are cooking as we speak and the team and I thank you for your support!
Hello and thank you!! Happy that you enjoyed it >:3c
Actually, I'm super relieved to hear that the general consensus about the characters and story is well balanced, it's evidence that my team's hard work is shining through so I'm super grateful :')
We're definitely not going to stop here at a demo, we're going to see it through so thank you for the support! <3
(Tell It Slant is on my to play list btw, I'm so ready to check it out this weekend!)
Thank you so much for your kind words Sophie! Glad that you enjoyed it!
I was actually a little worried about the length being too long because I kinda overshot our goal when we decided to fully voice it lmao- but I'm super glad it doesn't come off as wordy and that the characters were able to convey the depth that we imagined! I owe it all to my lovely team :>
(also, I recognize you from Killer Chat's team so allow me to send y'all a big HELLO!!! I'm super excited to play it this weekend >:3c )
Oh this game was such a treat to play, the replayability on this is a great factor too! The art, characters, story and music were absolutely wonderful. We love spooky hospitals and night shifts, and I love and hate how the music gets more messed up :')))
Honestly I don't know if it's intentional but when I saw Satria my first thought was "Why isn't he animated and breathing-", subtle foreshadowing done so well if it was! Another example was the fact that Mrs. Mulyono wasn't particularly colourful- which made me kinda go "HMMMM is she dead-" when I first saw her.
Also as fellow SEA, I'm SO PROUD of y'all representing SEA! I wanna shake y'all hands in our slightly similar culture (MY) cause Hantus and vengeful spirits here are scary as shit lol-
I'm (softly) SCREAMING this is such a cute story, got me kicking my feet lmao because I had an inkling and was kinda questioning their relationship a bit, so when it actually happened I just had to take a moment to clap for them-
This feels like a dessert after a great feast of other horror heavier titles that I've been playing, super appreciated. Perfect timing when I came across this one. Thank you so much for this experience!
Proud to say I got all the endings >:3c
Think my favourite part of the game was definitely how well done the POV swaps were done. I'm easily disoriented sometimes when a game has so many swaps but to see everything from the victim's POV back to dad's inner monologue in that order was a great design choice.
And oh- the main menu changes were an AMAZING touch! Didn't like how both of them were looking at the me at the end with a 'busy kitchen'- but I couldn't look away lmao. Thank you for this experience and I'm so proud of ya!
The art, the colour palette, the animations were such a treat to the eyes- I wasn't expecting to see what I saw when I ran out the bedroom but ngl I was too captivated by the character design to look away HAHA :')) (love his moving tatts btw)
Also I appreciate the audio cues after selecting choices, it's such nice touch but it helps clue you into the routes (though I may be completely wrong so please correct me if I am)! I think y'all did a phenomenal job and thank you for this experience!
There's just so many things I want to say about this- This game literally feels like a warm hug I never thought I needed right now :')
The story resonated so much on a personal scale, and I was telling my team (who were watching me play) how it felt like I was getting free therapy lol. It's not often I see myself relating to every character in a game. My favs were Nutmeg and Hubbard, so baby and so charming.
Echoing what another person said here, I look back to the past and I realise I really need to give myself more credit. Navigating relationships of any kind will never always be easy, but talking and being vulnerable around your support system, people that hold you dear, will eventually make everything alright. Such is life. Grieve, move on and grow from it.
The art, animations and music too, were amazing. I quietly sat around the main menu screen with the music playing to just soak everything in.
Thank you so much for this experience, y'all did a spectacular job!
The true scare is that fact that the UI looks like I'm right back at work corporate slaving my 8 to 5 away HAHAH
But jokes aside, I love the deliberate choices of the colour palette. The CGs are super well made, definitely caught me off guard when I saw the first one- but the last CG is just super sweet :')
The story is such an interesting concept (+ yippee FRIENDSHIP) and overall I think y'all did a very good job, thank you for this experience :D
So I was super excited to play it myself after watching J's (Korako's VA) stream the other day while he playing this game >:3c
The art? Phenomenal. Especially those perspective and colour shifting backgrounds.
The voice acting? Lovely. Obviously slightly biased because I'm a Korako fan, but everyone did very well!
The music? Chef's kiss. Correct me if I'm wrong but I really lovely the use of reversed version of one of the tracks.
Thank you for this lovely experience and can't wait to see more of the story!
Hello! I'm a little late to the party but I'd love hear your input on our game!
https://azufx.itch.io/undergrowth
The way I GASPED when I saw this, I've been a fan since Trashwing Crowchild last year!! It's an honour and thank you for playing our game FeatherBoy!
I'm actually so glad that each of their personalities really came through. I loved writing them because it's important to me that a story like this channels real humanity and raw emotions.
Allow me to shower my team with love but, without the help of Jett Barker, our voice director (also an actor and loveable gremlin) and our lovely cast of 17 other voice actors, the characters wouldn't have seem so real. 26 live directed sessions really paid off!
I'll let the rest (who are also fans of yours) know, thank you so much once again! >:3c
(btw I'm super excited to play your entry this weekend!)
The colour palette and pixel art is just chef's kiss! I love how interactive the story is, especially after realising that there was another 50% of achievements that I didn't get on my first run!
I felt a little nostalgic playing this because it brought me to the time when I was in school and was really into grindy RPGs, so thank you for that! :')
Echoing the others here but this is honestly the first time I've played a VN with such deliberate game design choices! The efforts that the team put in here really shine through, so thank you for this fun experience!
Also as a musician myself, can I just chuck my biggest compliments to the entire band + audio team? They did not have to go so hard on the music but I'M SO SO SO GLAD THEY DID (i won't lie i kinda lost myself in the music and had to do another round to read the story lol)
