Thank you so much Asher! I'm super glad you've enjoyed Undergrowth!

(I saw this a little late, sorry!)

The team and I went into Spooktober knowing that Undergrowth would've been a 'sleeper entry', because it's definitely not a straight in-your-face horror, typical spooky monster-esque nor is it a fun time celebratory annual event (which are great btw!). I approached Undergrowth with the concept of writing a script for a movie, hoping to reflect real and raw human emotions, and I'm glad it has been well received 🥹

With regards to the point about the voice cast, I think that the sheer numbers definitely contributed to part of the problem(?). By a 'month-long game jam' scale, 18 voice actors is ambitiously huge in numbers 💀💀

I definitely have them and our voice director to thank for delivering such a wonderful performance, huge pleasure to edit their audio too! It's always cool to see how others feel about our game, I deeply appreciate hearing different opinions!

And sorry (not sorry) for the cliffhangers >:3c

But not to worry! Updates are cooking as we speak and the team and I thank you for your support!

Thank you for playing and the video link, Misskatonik!! Appreciate you and good job keeping them together >:3c

Suuuuper late to the party (sorry!) but I just want to thank you so much for this list paperwren! This would definitely help me pick out what to play this weekend >:3c

I think our game Undergrowth fits under the psychological horror category if you're still accepting entries!

Hello and thank you!! Happy that you enjoyed it >:3c

Actually, I'm super relieved to hear that the general consensus about the characters and story is well balanced, it's evidence that my team's hard work is shining through so I'm super grateful :')

We're definitely not going to stop here at a demo,  we're going to see it through so thank you for the support! <3

(Tell It Slant is on my to play list btw, I'm so ready to check it out this weekend!)

Thank you so much for your kind words Sophie! Glad that you enjoyed it!

I was actually a little worried about the length being too long because I kinda overshot our goal when we decided to fully voice it lmao- but I'm super glad it doesn't come off as wordy and that the characters were able to convey the depth that we imagined! I owe it all to my lovely team :>

(also, I recognize you from Killer Chat's team so allow me to send y'all a big HELLO!!! I'm super excited to play it this weekend >:3c )

Oh this game was such a treat to play, the replayability on this is a great factor too! The art, characters, story and music were absolutely wonderful. We love spooky hospitals and night shifts, and I love and hate how the music gets more messed up :')))

Honestly I don't know if it's intentional but when I saw Satria my first thought was "Why isn't he animated and breathing-", subtle foreshadowing done so well if it was! Another example was the fact that Mrs. Mulyono wasn't particularly colourful- which made me kinda go "HMMMM is she dead-" when I first saw her.

Also as fellow SEA, I'm SO PROUD of y'all representing SEA! I wanna shake y'all hands in our slightly similar culture (MY) cause Hantus and vengeful spirits here are scary as shit lol-

I'm (softly) SCREAMING this is such a cute story, got me kicking my feet lmao because I had an inkling and was kinda questioning their relationship a bit, so when it actually happened I just had to take a moment to clap for them-

This feels like a dessert after a great feast of other horror heavier titles that I've been playing, super appreciated. Perfect timing when I came across this one. Thank you so much for this experience!

Proud to say I got all the endings >:3c

Think my favourite part of the game was definitely how well done the POV swaps were done. I'm easily disoriented sometimes when a game has so many swaps but to see everything from the victim's POV back to dad's inner monologue in that order was a great design choice.

And oh- the main menu changes were an AMAZING touch! Didn't like how both of them were looking at the me at the end with a 'busy kitchen'- but I couldn't look away lmao. Thank you for this experience and I'm so proud of ya!

The art, the colour palette, the animations were such a treat to the eyes- I wasn't expecting to see what I saw when I ran out the bedroom but ngl I was too captivated by the character design to look away HAHA :')) (love his moving tatts btw)

Also I appreciate the audio cues after selecting choices, it's such nice touch but it helps clue you into the routes (though I may be completely wrong so please correct me if I am)! I think y'all did a phenomenal job and thank you for this experience!

There's just so many things I want to say about this- This game literally feels like a warm hug I never thought I needed right now :')

The story resonated so much on a personal scale, and I was telling my team (who were watching me play) how it felt like I was getting free therapy lol. It's not often I see myself relating to every character in a game. My favs were Nutmeg and Hubbard, so baby and so charming.

Echoing what another person said here, I look back to the past and I realise I really need to give myself more credit. Navigating relationships of any kind will never always be easy, but talking and being vulnerable around your support system, people that hold you dear, will eventually make everything alright. Such is life. Grieve, move on and grow from it.

The art, animations and music too, were amazing. I quietly sat around the main menu screen with the music playing to just soak everything in.

Thank you so much for this experience, y'all did a spectacular job!

The true scare is that fact that the UI looks like I'm right back at work corporate slaving my 8 to 5 away HAHAH

But jokes aside, I love the deliberate choices of the colour palette. The CGs are super well made, definitely caught me off guard when I saw the first one- but the last CG is just super sweet :')

The story is such an interesting concept (+ yippee FRIENDSHIP) and overall I think y'all did a very good job, thank you for this experience :D

So I was super excited to play it myself after watching J's (Korako's VA) stream the other day while he playing this game >:3c

The art? Phenomenal. Especially those perspective and colour shifting backgrounds.

The voice acting? Lovely. Obviously slightly biased because I'm a Korako fan, but everyone did very well!

The music? Chef's kiss. Correct me if I'm wrong but I really lovely the use of reversed version of one of the tracks.

Thank you for this lovely experience and can't wait to see more of the story!

ngl that sounds like a treat, time to crash at his place!

Hello! I'm a little late to the party but I'd love hear your input on our game!
https://azufx.itch.io/undergrowth

The way I GASPED when I saw this, I've been a fan since Trashwing Crowchild last year!! It's an honour and thank you for playing our game FeatherBoy!

I'm actually so glad that each of their personalities really came through. I loved writing them because it's important to me that a story like this channels real humanity and raw emotions.

Allow me to shower my team with love but, without the help of Jett Barker, our voice director (also an actor and loveable gremlin) and our lovely cast of 17 other voice actors, the characters wouldn't have seem so real. 26 live directed sessions really paid off!

I'll let the rest (who are also fans of yours) know, thank you so much once again! >:3c

(btw I'm super excited to play your entry this weekend!)

Oh goodness bandcamp with all the goodies!! Y'all are really out here blessing us with these gems >:3c

I've noticed too how seamlessly it just swaps as the route kinda changes and it's super fun to be able to notice it real time. This is an audio peep's (me) treat tbh, this is amazing work <3

Well I know I'm super psyched for this and I can't wait to meet more demons friends as more levels or chapters(?) come out! You're doing great :D

Well I have good news because Steam release is definitely in our future plans! :D

Thank you so much for your support!! <3

And that afterthought really paid off! With this, you encourage a whole new layer of replayability so that's really really cool imo!

Awesome!! Looking forward to it Tfizzle!

Gus is charming for sure, he's my second fav character, defs has taste in interior decors HAHA

But with the image of a Dusk interview in my mind, I can definitely see him spitting facts on TV because he has such a charming smile aura about him >:3c

Hello Malia!! I'm so glad to hear that you've enjoyed your playthrough!
The Dev team and I are determined to work on the full release, so I hope that you'll continue to support us when that happens! <3

My fav thing about the game is the fact that all the characters have different voices, it's such a nice touch >:3c
Overall a short and sweet but FUN experience, so thank you for that, and congrats on submission!!

The colour palette and pixel art is just chef's kiss! I love how interactive the story is, especially after realising that there was another 50% of achievements that I didn't get on my first run!

I felt a little nostalgic playing this because it brought me to the time when I was in school and was really into grindy RPGs, so thank you for that! :')

(1 edit)

Echoing the others here but this is honestly the first time I've played a VN with such deliberate game design choices! The efforts that the team put in here really shine through, so thank you for this fun experience!

Also as a musician myself, can I just chuck my biggest compliments to the entire band + audio team? They did not have to go so hard on the music but I'M SO SO SO GLAD THEY DID (i won't lie i kinda lost myself in the music and had to do another round to read the story lol)

I think one of the best things about this game is that all components of the game, be it voice acting, art style, writing and music were able to carry the whole unnerving atmosphere of the game, nothing felt out of place and the deliberate choices that you all made were definitely the right choices (like the whole name thing).
Thank you for this fun experience!

(Johanna scared me so bad the first time I heard her and saw her sprite change :'> took me a while to realise she's a sweet friend and not foe)

A short and sweet but emotionally charged story plot, thank you for this experience!
I'm not sure if it was deliberate but I honestly loved how the character designs (to me) kind of did a whole foreshadowing of the reveal :'))

Was surprised to find out that this is solo dev work, because presentation of the entire game was really really solid!!
My favourite thing about the game is definitely the character designs, it's the first thing that caught my eyes, they're all so adorable :')))))))

I'll defs keep my eyes peel on Halloween for the update! >:3c

The game, art and story was so solid, I was actually surprised to find out that you're the sole dev of the game, so congratulations! The music choice you made definitely helped build the environment :D
Seconding what echomochi said but the implementation of an inventory system and having clearer hints would definitely help!

(and honestly, I too, really wanted to befriend the demon cause they seem kinda chill. Piqued my interest from the screenshots -oop)

I gotta say I LOVED the SFX and the little animations here and there! It's giving like 2012 era of RPGMaker games, felt nostalgic and it was really fun to able to look around and get descriptions of the things you stare at!
Will definitely be on a look out for future chapters because the plot was super promising! >:3c

Re-la piqued my interest when I saw the screenshots!
Short and sweet demo, but it's an impressive achievement for a solo dev! I can't wait to learn more about Re-la and even MC themselves too!

(at one point I thought it sounded like we were about to tomb raid, but I could be completely mistaken HAHA)

LOVED the background art and the interactive map thing so much! I think the plot is intriguing too, spawning in and then meeting the others in search of a higher being that supposedly exists, lots of room to wonder how it'll keep going!
Looking forward to more updates :D

(Aries is so adorable btw, defs my favourite :'))

Loved the audio and writing! Great demo, I would love to see more of the kitty soon! :>

Echoing the rest of the comments but the VFX and overall style really make the game stand out! Great little story and I enjoyed learning about the characters throughout their individual scenes! :D

And Dusk is definitely a nice owl :'>>>
I trust my feathery friend

Thank you so much for playing J, I'm glad you're enjoying the story!
Super excited to watch your playthrough on the second half :D
(also, saying that you made a small contribution is such huge understatement, Lorenzo literally would not be complete without you >:0  thank you for voicing one of our sweet beans!)

Decided to go into it blind without reading the game page and OMG I love the visuals, glitchy animations and of course Virgil the naked catto (I love himbs so MUCH), there's just so much about this game and I'll defs play it when the full version is out. Probably one of my fav submissions so far! <3

itty bitty pumpkin boyy :') Heath is indeed the cutest pumpkin
Played it with a bunch of friends and we managed to get 5/6 endings, very cute artstyle and a very fitting story for Halloween!!

I love himbs so much :'))))))))))) By far one of my favorites, Crowchild managed to pull on my heartstrings oml this cute lil BEBY
Scrapbook styled art is also very very interesting, kinda like a children's book which is very adorable :>

SUPER DUPER POLISHED!! Strength is defs my favourite character, tiny cinnamon bun doing their best :')
The 3D BGs, fancy looking UI and the variety of sprite expressions are pretty unique and it really channeled the game's overall aesthetic well! :>

(also super glad to see some familiar names on the team <3)

Bold colour palettes and unique artstyle, and that mouse mechanic thing you've put into this is very cool! I personally loved reminiscence's design, blobby but also scary :>
