I wanted to add my thoughts as someone who loved the game, rated it highly and tried to promote it. I want to share my detailed thoughts and ask for yours (respectfully).
I've seen you call this a "die/respawn basic unoriginal platformer" and I disagree. While some games were for sure just "die, respawn try again until you get it", there were others that put a spin on that - you need to die a certain way to enable yourself. And depending on how that was integrated I see that as a very good take on the THEME at the very least. This game in particular is not just a die die again until you get it. You NEED to die to solve the puzzles. And its not just walk in a line see a pile of spikes die so u make a platform so that next time you can use that to not die. There's so much more depth to the mechanics than that and I for one think that the CREATIVITY of not just the main mechanic but each and every level absolutely deserves a high rating. Have there been other games that have had a similar mechanic in the past? Sure. But does this make it any less creative? In my eyes - absolutely not! Making something your own is at the core of creativity. We are at a point in time where its pretty damn hard to make something truly new and not derivative of anything existing already. So for me the implementation and design of each level was unique and well thought out. I had a really good time playing every level and feeling proud that I figured out the solutions. And that is really important in making a good puzzle game - having the right level of difficulty that is not impossible but still challenging and rewarding for the player when they get there. So yeah dude I enjoyed the game a lot and I think it absolutely deserves its high ratings.
And I need to talk about the visuals too. Keep in mind the SOLO DEVELOPER AND TIME LIMIT. The art is cute imo and there's even ANIMATIONS (on not just the characters but environment too!) and PARTICLES. I for one am not expecting every game to have traditionally 'pretty' drawings. But the attention to visual details is huge in my book.
And yes the entire rating system is not great and leaves a lot to be desired. I personally operated under a 'I want as many people playing my game' policy not because I think more ratings = better ranking (it clearly doesn't), but because the idea of people playing and enjoying my game feels good. And towards the second half I was asking for feedback/thoughts how others would have tackled out concept. My later comments on other games I also shifted towards trying to give feedback and thoughts rather than just what parts I liked. It would've been nice if instead of a fully open everyone can choose to rate anyone deal we had a system where each individual was given a small pool of games to rate. But alas this isn't issue free either so 🤷‍♀️. And yes. sure. if there's less ratings but they are nicer then you would beat someone with more ratings which vary more. But what can we really do? every system is likely to have some flaw and someone complaining that its unfair in some way (and they might be right).
At the end of the day its a friendly jam. I have no prior experience so I don't know what the norm is but I'm expecting that we're all just here to learn and have fun. Its not that deep in my brain.
I hope this all makes sense.

This was genuinely the coolest game I came across in the jam and I'm so glad I played it. It's so well done in many aspects and I'd been hoping to share the game with more people. AND HERE WE ARE WITH A TRIPLE CROWN!
WELL DONE BLAHZORS you made something incredible and I look forward to what you do next.

Thank you so much <3

Adding a shoot button to a brick breaker is actually genius. There's always that 1 brick I just can't manage to hit AND NOW I CAN!

Nice audio and cute art. I think the door is actually broken (there doesnt seem to be a hitbox on it regardless of purchasing the edict). Well done!

I did in fact put on some lofi - it helped HAHAHAH. You gave me a few chuckles so thats a win in my book. Not sure what was going on but the transitions between scenes was a little funky flashing in and out for me.
Hope u get more time to work on your next jam!

we made a silly little game around the isekai truck trope and i'd love your thoughts on how you would've approached the concept!

https://itch.io/jam/jamsepticeye/rate/3937843

I figured out the tech was to just always perform down attacks so that I could dodge all the pumpkins' attacks - this feels unintentional. I got the hang of movement with down attack up force pretty quick but I can for sure see it being really challenging for others so it probably needs a little tweaking. I can see future (if you're going down that route) updates having more variations on map design / movement types - so far you've got chained down attacking jumps and dashing so maybe wall jumping or a scythe grappling hook could be cool!
But the sprites and animations are well made and you've got the start of something cool going!

The premise and concept are super cool. And for the most part the execution is really well done. Visually the style choice and transitions were great choices and the story is interesting. I can see this expanding well into your expected future updates! You're well aware of the bugs with items and camera by now so on you go to making a more complete game! Really nice work guys :)

🎊🎊

5 minutes of joy is how I wanna pitch our game:

Ok I think I'm a little lost story wise but I think the overall style is pretty cool. I like the way you've done the levels of lighting and the 2 alternating frames on them really brings it together more than if it was static. I can imagine some music would've significantly enhanced the experience and helped immerse the player into the world and story (obviously you don't need to compose your own royalty free is always an option!).

HOLY HELL THE ENTITY REALLY OUT HERE BLASTING MY EARS.
But in all seriousness I had a good time with the story and its different routes.

WELL DONE!!

It seems to happen sometimes with all sorts of different games/engines. Did you happen to use unity?

AHAHHA loved the little dying noises. I went a bit too hard on global warming and got that ending first oops.
You've made a nice little clicker, well done!

Well done!

Fishing Critical is great fun! Had me going for a while there trying to get every item off. But alas I had to move on and give some other games a ago.

🤭Where would you like to end up?

HOLY HELL THAT ENDING. ABSOLUTELY NOT EXPECTED.
Driving was a bit janky at times. But OTHER VEHICLES? WORKING TRAFFIC? Insane work well done!!

Thank you so much <3. Maybe we'll do a bigger release post jam...

Lovely little puzzle game with some pretty good mechanics. Managed to get through with just 13 deaths! Great work :)

Very cool premise. Im really loving the art and music, not to mention the voice acting is on point 👌! I had a good time following along with the story after my first attempt ended in getting jump scared by a certain noise when you run out of time AHAHAHAH.
Amazing work guys!

Also love the little rats everywhere not to mention the big one

GOODNESS ME you really gave me a few scares there 😭😭.
Well done with all the art and writing! And the music/sfx choices were really good!

Cute art style! I love the different variations on the sprites. Especially the one where its 1 pixel for each eye and 2 for the mouth AHAHHAHA. I do wish you guys had the time to make more minigames for the different malware. Like a typing one for the Ghost in the Shell 👀! Gotta truly make the uninstall process feel like what its like uninstalling mcafee...
Well done though!

Just a fun little puzzle. I had a good time :). Each puzzle felt decently intuitive for me so once I got going I GOT GOING on all the coworkers 😂😂

Really cool to see another first time game developer! I had to learn Godot and C# for our game.
I look forward to playing your game. You can check our silly little game out here:

Oh my goodness this was a really cool experience. Was not expecting this kind of a game to come out of the theme at all. And it is SO well made for how little time we had. The characters are really cool and just in general the visual and audio design was 👌👌
Amazing work here!

So theres actually a version of Godot that has C# scripting which interacts through their API system. I used this version instead of just going with GodotScript because I thought to myself "well either way im learning a whole engine and a whole scripting language so ill go with C# since its actually a language rather than something specifically for Godot". Unfortuantely yeah Godot currently doesnt support web builds if you used C# instead of GDscript :(

Thank you for the detailed feedback!
- Yeah this is my first game and I just kinda went with Godot (I've very briefly touched UE5 but there was no shot I was going to try making my first IN A GAME JAM in UE5). It turned out to be an ok choice.. other than the fact that I made the mistake of also going with the C# version (with no C# experience either) which meant we couldnt do a web build in the end :(

- Yeah unfortunately I didn't quite work out all the window settings before submission and I didnt count it as game breaking enough to fix.
- I am aware of the back button issue but havent fixed it as its not game breaking (I straight up forgot to link it to the script call)
- Thank you so much! My 3 artists worked very hard on all the assets during the jam.
- We had a look through some royalty free music and found the ones we thought best matched each area :)
- OOh I like the honk suggestion. I'll probably do that post jam!
- Yeah, less a glitch more a didn't have the time to add more colliders for the map boundaries.
- The fishing minigame is heavily RNG based with each round having tighter/less forgiving ranges for the potential speed and wait time between moving for the fish. It was the fastest way I could think of implementing it while also parametrising it so that I could (post jam) adjust the difficulty.

Thank you again so much for the detailed feedback I really appreciate it <3

Interesting concept and pretty hard as is.
I did actually find a bug that has me off the map and unable to reset/die (oops). But I'd say the biggest thing I wish for is being able to actually aim my projectiles, especially when the enemies can do it to some extent. It makes it that much harder to deal with them.
Well done though, this was a cool play. :)

This was also for 3/4 of our team members' first game jam (and first game in general!)
Will definitely be checking your game out later!
Here is ours:

Here is ours!
Its a very short and silly little game:

Definitely would love some 'overboard' feedback. Especially what you would've done with the concept if this was your game!

I realised I never left a comment despite LOVING THE FLORBS. SO HERE I AM <3 FLORBS

We also made a cute little game! I'm on my way to checkin yours out 👀

I was not expecting the video switchup! That was really cool. The art is also great but unfortunately there seems to be a few bugs with the goals. I definitely got the chalk and the matches but it wouldn't show up as completed in the phone :(.
Well done though!

Very funny. Looking forward to a full version in the future!
