First of all, congrats to your first game. :) Well it is a very interesting game. I liked the game and sometimes I got scared of the little jumpscares it had. The art style is nice and pleasant and I felt like the game has a serious and bit scary mood. As a little feedback, I personally prefer those horror games that is frightening by the atmosphere, instead of jumpscares. Jumpscares are good way to scare the players, but after some time it gets boring.
At first I couldn't really understand the dialogues because they were not so direct, more like they were telling you the story indirectly. So I had to read them all over again to understand what is going on. I like this kind of games that are not so straightforward. The only thing I couldn't figure out was the 6-digit code. Maybe I didn't notice something or I'm just stupid, but I had no idea how could I find out the code, so I had to use the TXT to check it.
I checked the bad ending, the boss fight was simple but surprising in a good way. At first I didn't know why the game brings me back to the bottom, then I realized so I finished the game.
The main menu is simple, the options are only containing master volume slider, which is okay-ish. I have encountered with many bugs during my playthrough, just to mention a few(probably you're already know them):
- During the dialogue, if you exit to the main menu, the time keeps in slow motion, that affects the main menu also.
- If you exit from a dialogue while the dialogue is still in progress, the slow motion is in effect, meaning that you are moving very slowly.
- The master volume slider seems to change the volume a bit incorrectly, some audio still loud even though the slider is on the left side.
- During some dialogues(especially in the boss fight), if you spam the F to enter into a dialogue, it will multiply the dialogues, meaning that the dialogues will be in play in the same time.
- In the first cutscene at the very beginning of the game, after the black silhouette(mentioning her like that to avoid spoilers) leaves, the game fades to black screen, and the text to continue appears after like 10 seconds. It is not a bug I think, but 10 seconds is too much to wait in a black screen. If something should happen after she left you, then it is a bug.
- The game saves the master volume's slider value, but it does not change the volume when starting the game.
- In the TXT file, the Whiteness 6-digit code doesn't seem to work.
- The kid's dialogue at the bus stop plays the very first dialogue after choosing an option. It doesn't matter which one.
- In the Blueberry tree, the key button doesn't show up when you are able to enter or exit from the building.
- There is a bug, which shouldn't really be a big problem because you have to play the game in a wrong way in order to produce this bug. If you stay in a dialogue, and you chance a room, the camera will reposition itself to a very far distance from you and then realign. Not a game-breaking bug, more like a little something to be mentioned.
- In the main menu, there is a missing sprite or image on the left side behind the buttons.(I can send an image if necessary)
- If you are in a dialogue, you can still use your umbrella, but the umbrella doesn't spawn, but it's duration is in effect, therefore you have to wait until it expires and then re-enable the umbrella.
- If you want to leave an area, and you choose "no", you have to go away from the door and then go back in order to try again.
As you have said, it is your first game so it's totally understandable that there are bugs in the game so there is nothing to worry about. The only thing I would mention here is the spelling errors. For example, at the very beginning, if you want to skip the cutscene, "continue" is spelled incorrectly, and it is not the only one. It is not annoying for me, but it is something to be aware of. Other than these, the dialogues were interesting and some of them were funny(for example, the guys in the classroom).
Overall it is a good start with a unique art style and with a short but interesting story. So I'm excited to check your next game. :)
