I bought this game a while ago from a bundle and was wondering if its only chapter 1 or will be the full game?

At the moment, yes it will only be chapter 1.

(+1)

Please tell me, at what stage of development is the game? I was delighted with the demo a couple of years ago and since then I can't wait for the release) the game is great!

Hey thanks for checking in, I'm so happy to hear that you are excited for the full game.

Currently we are in beta testing, which is a very good sign about the release! We haven't announced the release date yet, so keep an eye out for that.

If you are interested, you can keep up with development by signing up for our email list which we send out about once per month: https://mailchi.mp/cc4f226a280e/isles-of-sea-and-sky-mailing-list

I loved the bit I played of the demo, I didn't play far because I'm waiting on the full release. Are there any "bosses" in the game? I am very eagerly awaiting this, I think it's going to do really well.

(+1)

Thank you!

In the full game there is something that could be interpreted as a "boss fight" in a way on one of the islands.

(+1)

Loved all of the new puzzle blocks. The open world is wonderfully done. Can't wait for the full release!

Thank you!

(+1)

Wow, this was a really nice game. The graphics and music are awesome (those animations!). The puzzles are interesting and challenging, and there are lot of mechanics for just 1 hour of gameplay. The exploration is very clever, because it foreshadows the solution of some puzzles and makes the islands a puzzle by itself. 5/5.

I wish I had discovered the game during the Kickstarter D:

Thank you so much for playing. I'm so happy you enjoyed it! I can't wait for you to see the full game!

(+1)

the demo is fantastic! perfect gbc vibes + head-scratching puzzles + overworld with a turtle — what’s not to love

Thank you! I'm happy you enjoyed it so much!

(+1)

Definitely getting the full release when it comes out. Really great game.

Thank you!!

(+1)

Will the full version be updated for itch.io backers?

(+1)

When the full game releases, it will definitely be released on itch.io as well as Steam! You will be notified and sent your key on Kickstarter when the game launches.

(+1)

so this build we got through racial justice will be automatically updated?

(4 edits) (+1)

No, this will remain this portion of the game. It's possible that there could be future updates, which is what happened with v4.0, but it won't give access to the full game.

(+1)

I played the demo in a periodic event of my gaming channel - called Demo Day, a year ago. It is literally one of my most waited games of the year. Awesome work!

I am so excited that you are anticipating this game that much! Can't wait to share the full game with you!

(+1)

I finally got around on playing the demo! Can’t wait for the full release!

Thank you! Glad to hear you enjoyed it!

(+1)

This was WAY more fun than I expected!

Glad you enjoyed it! I hope you will try out the full game when it releases!

(+1)

Wow what a amazing demo! Really excited for the full release. Also is the star cap in the demo 15 stars?

That's correct!

(+1)

Excellent demo, I'm psyched for the full game release! (I know it'll be a while yet, but whenever it does eventually launch I'll be there).

Thank you!

This is a cool game. From what I've seen, it looks to be a long one too! I enjoyed my time with the demo and would like to ask a couple questions to see where this game is going.
1) Will this game do more with less and use the simple mechanics in unique ways like: Using cliffs to fall onto a box/trail of boxes or block a teleporter with a certain thing to solve a puzzle? These are just examples btw
2) Will it take a metroidvania approach to progression?
3) Do you have a rough release date, play length and price? If so, it would be useful to know.
4) Will you have playtesters/take in puzzle submissions since I would be very interested to sign up for either?

Hey glad to hear you enjoyed it!

1. Yes.

2. Yes, as you unlock more friends and items, you will gain access to more and more areas.

3. I am aiming for the end of next year for release. The price will be $15, and my estimate at the moment is the game will feature 10 to 15 hours of gameplay. If I have time I will be able to add more content.

4. At the moment I'm not taking any puzzle ideas, and the only testing we are doing is internally and with alpha testers from the Kickstarter project.

(+1)

Thanks! Nice to see such an active and nice gamedev!

(+2)

I could not possibly be more excited for a video game!  What a great introduction! :D

(+1)

Woot! Thanks so much for making this video and sharing. I love to see when people are excited about the game!!

(+1)

There aren't a ton of Day One purchases for me these days, but Akurra will be one, no doubt! :D

I would like to thank you, Pursuing Pixels, from the bottom of my heart for your recommendations! Thanks to you I've been able to find awesome pixel art titles such as Akurra -- and we seem to have a very similar taste when it comes to video games. You have no idea how much this truly means!! :D

So happy that we’ve been able to help you find some cool games—and speaking of…I’ve only honestly heard of a small handful of these (morphcat games is sooooo good!), but I’ve definitely got myself a nice and healthy list of games to add to the (never-ending and ever-growing) backlog & wishlist!!

seriously—thanks so much for putting so much time, thought, effort, and energy into this reply!!🙏

hopefully some other folks will take the plunge on some of these games as well!! Now…..to go and play some Monolith!!👾👾👾

(+2)

This is an awesome game, I was fortunate enough to have Gojirra join me in chat as I played this indie gem of a demo through. ❤ Definitely recommend!

(+1)

Yes!!!!

(+3)

I may easily rank this game as one of my favorites ever, no less!

Akurra (still in dev) is the epitome of the kind of games I deeply enjoy: adventure and puzzle games. Beautifully crafted and totally atmospheric with its haunting soundtrack, plus intertwined puzzles and various cryptic elements, this non-verbal game reveals a true talent of storytelling. Its inspired pixel art clearly reminds of the aesthetics and poetic universe drawn in GBC Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX (still my favorite episode to this day). While being rather quite unique with its exotic vibe, Akurra conveys a familiar and timeless feel. This game is like playing Sokoban in a kind of « Koholint » Archipelago. Its core mechanics are simple, yet compelling and addictive! A good-hearted and not punishing game (no death penalties, infinite undo and reset options) which brings to the player a true feel of exploration and completion at its finest (discovering secret places, collecting stuff, solving puzzles...). Akurra is like an invitation to lose yourself in a dream world of imagination and play. A true labour of love and a future cult classic!

Thank you so much for the big demo and keep up the good work!

Greetings from France!

Wow that really gave me the good feeling goosebumps! Thank you for that awesomely well thought out review! So inspiring 😊

(1 edit)

Thank you so much for this in depth response. It feels fantastic when someone really clicks with the game and has such a fantastic writing ability to put it in words. We really appreciate the kind words!!

(+2)

So good for a fucking itch.io game like this is way beyond what I expected 10/10 my brain stopped so many times.GG well played Jason. So good!

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!!

(+2)

Dude this game is soo much fun! I didn't even remember where I got it, just found the demo on my desktop and decided to play it tonight. I'm actually kinda sad it's not out yet, I assumed it was an old game, haha. It seems like the demo has changed compared to some let's plays I've seen on YouTube, e.g. the island to the far right on the map is covered in clouds for me, there are no triangle pieces, etc. Anyway.. I wishlisted this on Steam, good luck on making the rest of the game and here's to hoping to a smooth and successful release!

(+1)

Lol that's awesome, and thank you!! If you want to keep up with the development of the game you can follow the Kickstarter where I post monthly updates: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gojirra/akurra
