No.There is tutorial. It's just doesn't specify how to jump off the walls sideways.
Yeah I couldn't make a decent enough example in the tutorial sorry about that, But hey you learnt about it through the game so I'm going to say that was intentional or something, sorry about the poor design I've never tutorialed before.
