I laughed out loud when I saw that I was inside of two different fish 🐟 This is a great concept! Puzzle design is hard, and the absence of sound effects does make it feel less alive, but the flashlight concept was used very well. Great job!

Thank you! Yeah, we really would have loved to add a couple more sound effects, but we had literally used up all our development time and didn’t want to go over the time limit. Maybe we’ll do a post-jam update that adds some sound effects and fixes some small bugs.

I forgot to mention: I laughed about your game's tagline, too, so at least one person noticed that extra joke you slipped in 🙂

Loved it! Very cute and creative point and click :)

Developer

Thank you!

I would recommend having the safe coded (1,2,3) at the start for less confusion, but incredible nonetheless :D

Developer(+1)

That’s a good point. I somehow didn’t think about reading direction being a thing that can differ for different cultures during development. Thanks for pointing it out!

Nice submission, and grateful for the provided walkthrough when I got stuck.

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, the game turned out to be a little harder than we expected.

hilarious concept, have got to say i cheated a little though

Solid Entry!

Developer

Haha, no worries! Thank you :)

I enjoyed the game. The art was great and the concept was fun. I do think that it was a bit complex although I did manage to finish it in the end, some of the stuff didn't quite make sense but overall a solid entry! Good job :D

Developer

Thanks! Yeah, we were heavily inspired by Rusty Lake games and definitely wanted to include some absurd humor.

A strong entry! I really like that kind of game and still struggled a bit but finally escaped :)

Congrats

Developer(+1)

Thanks! And congrats to you!

This is a fun entry. It makes me want to dive into the point-and-click genre (no pun intended!). I managed to solve the code on my own, but I needed some help for the last moment, as indicated in one of my other comments. One gripe I had is, I didn't really understand how SPOILERS: stabbing the whale in the eye yielded the matches. But that's a relatively minor gripe. I always say a little sound goes a long way, and you accomplished that here with the superb selection of underwater ambiance. Great work!

Developer

Thanks a lot! The background track was literally a last minute addition (and I mean literally literally). Wish we had had a little more time to add more sound effects.

The matches are a bit of a stretch, I admit. The story is meant a little differently, though: You are actually a person stuck inside an anglerfish stuck inside a whale. When you use the knife, you cut yourself out of the anglerfish. And apparently you had some matches with you that you can now use.

(We did want it to be a little absurd :D)

If you want to check out more point and click games, this one was heavily inspired by the Rusty Lake series, which also has a cartoonish style and macarbre humor. Definitely worth checking out if you dig this kind of game!

Really tried to beat this one but I couldn't find out the code to the safe. Regardless the atmosphere was really cool and the art style was super appealing! Well done! The take on the theme was also very unique.

I got stuck on the code for a while, but I finally figured out. SPOILERS BELOW!

The first step is to find the locations of the three codes. Once you find them, it helps to say it out loud. "A to B"... "C to D"... "E to F"... eventually, I realized the first symbol represents the Xth slot on the safe, and the second symbol represents the value at that entry. i.e. "slot[A] = B", "slot[C] = D", "slot[E] = F".

That said, I am currently stuck on the moment a bit after. Good luck with your playthrough!

Developer

Thank you! If you still want some help, I’ve added some hints and a walkthrough to the game page.

Submitted(+1)

I think I would like a hint. I picked up the potato(?), cable, and dynamite. I put the cable and potato together but not sure what I am supposed to do. I don't know if I have to guess the combination or what.

Developer (1 edit)

You might have encountered a slight bug where an item looks like it’s selected, but it’s not really. If not:

Slight Spoiler The potato + cable are meant to be a potato battery. What in the room requires power to work?
Submitted(+1)

Aha! Yes it was a bug!

LOL That was really fun! Besides the bug, the only confusing part was the little hole or whatever should be a little more noticeable. Took a little while to figure that out!

Nice implementation!

Submitted(+1)

Lol, thanks for mentioning the little hole, I would never have beaten the game if not for your mentioning it.

I didn't manage to escape the whale. Nice visual style and cool game idea.

Developer

Thanks! At which point did you get stuck and would you like a hint?
