Browsing for 3d will give you horror. Page one is 33 of 36. And of the other 3 one had a subgenre of horror and one tagged gore.

Not that other tags are any better. Sure that over 90% popular games on itch are all horror exclusive? That somehow does not sound that right. Should it not diversify after entering a tag?

Anyways, if there is tags free, one can use it, but for searching it is not that good. It is not even used on steam very often (for "3d" games), where 20 tags are possible. With double the tags and this tag still not surfacing for 3d content, I am quite convinced, that it is useless as a tag in most cases. It is implied in too many other tags or not of interest. Or like in this thread's point, people do not use it consistent and do not have the same opinion what it actually means.

Diversity of opinions is a good thing. I'd still rely on tag combinations for refining a search. That's how a lot of my stuff gets found.

Not in regards to words and their meaning. If we have "opinions" that differ on the meaning of the very words we use to communicate, misunderstandings are bound to happen.

For instance, 3d can also mean stereoscopic. Or that the 2d images are rendered in 3d.

3d is one of those tags that work better with combination.

Yes, my point exactly. Besides, misunderstandings are normal between people.

What misunderstanding could there be with the third-person game tag? I think this tag is extremely clear and unambiguous. Why is the 3D tag so vague?

Your entire OP argues that "3D" can have different meanings depending on context.

My who? I suggest removing the 3D tag and adding two specific tags with specific values instead.

Short for "original post". And yes, exactly.

Then answer, how can I find through the search games that have three dimensions? The genre of the game doesn’t matter to me, it doesn’t matter if the game is played in first person, third person or second person. It doesn't matter if it's a simulator, a shooter or a strategy game. All that matters to me is that the game be three-dimensional.

What combination of tags should I use for this?
