The scaling mechanic in this game makes it fun. I think it would be great if you provide a map because as I unlock more mechanic and as I can explore the area more freely it is also getting harder to know where my current position is. 

And also, if you are using tilemap feature provides by Unity, you can make the tiles that suppose to be a cave or hidden area on a different layer. Like maybe the background tiles on layer 0 and the cave or wall to hide the player when it passes on layer 1 or 2. Something like that. Just to make it more "neat".

awesome, thanks for the great feedback. Yeah this is my first unity game so I was just figuring stuff out as I went  along.  

Re: Tile maps, I guess that means I can turn colliders off for specific layers?  That would be great and definitely neater than what I have done.
