This is the place to share your game ideas, get feedback, and find collaborators for your game. You can also ask for help or advice on any aspect of game design, such as mechanics, theme, art, etc.

Welcome to the Game Ideas board! This is where you can brainstorm, discuss, and refine your game ideas for the game jam. You can also look for teammates, mentors, or testers for your game. Feel free to share your thoughts, suggestions, and questions with other participants.

Hey ya'll!

Decided to join in this Jam once i heard it was about bookmark games.

I am currently working on an idea at the moment: "Holders of The Magical Bookmarks"

The game is about Players, called Holders, use their bookmarks, that have various effects and books they have read, to battle each other by bringing figures, spells, wepons and many more, to life! The only limit, is your imagination. ^^

So, my game is a mix of Trading Card Game (You have bookmarks with effects and bonus that affect the game in some ways) and Role Playing (You improve and discribe how each battle turns out. Imagine thecharacters like The monkey King battling against Pennywise, or 007 pulling out gadgets against Harry Potter)

Currently still fleshing out the rules though. I want to keep things simple for the jam and then go from there. Now, a central mechanic would be "Keywords". There would be twenty words with six "Core Genres Bookmarks (Fantasy, Horror,  Romance, Thriller/Suspense, Sci-Fi, Mystery and Western). However, The main issue i'm facing is that, a bookmark only has so much space on both saids that, i can't fit both the rules and keyword list. I was wondering to save space, i could make a sepeate sheet that has the Keywords and their respective effects. or would that be against the rules of the Jam?

I'm loving this idea and i want to go to town with it but i don't want to stepover toes.

Alternate Idea  : Solo play, same ~general~ trope/talent list on one side, story prompts on the other.  Player places the bookmark randomly, then has to narrate how they overcome the prompted challenges using a skill / talent that is aligned next to a vowel.

Different bookmarks for different PCs in different dramatic circumstances, with different traits and different prompts.
