Anyone else not get in contact with the case artist?

A bit bummed, but I just join these to learn something and making my entry did teach me a lot, I would have loved to enter but the person who did the art for the game cart that I picked hasn't gotten back to me over a few attempts now. I didn't know to enter we had to show proof until  about 4 days ago, I just figured if the game was very loosely based it wouldn't matter and then when I went to see what the upload was like there are places for that proof of being able to contact the designer.

I wonder if in the future a better way of going about a jam like this to reach out to the cart designers before hand and see if they are interested in their carts being used in a game jam that way we know that all the carts could be used in that way.

But like I said not a huge deal, I was curious if anyone else had trouble getting in touch with other designers about using their cart? The one I picked in particular was "Between two worlds".

I'm going to change the name of my game to something different and just upload to my page, I do wish everyone luck with their games :)

My attempt was walking around a 90s museum, but everything isn't quiet as it seems. I'll probably switch up the name to "Family Day" or something like that idk.

I found the ambiguity of this entry particularly inspiring, but actually finding contact info for the designer is a tall order - best I've got is a wealth of similarly named Facebook accounts... This could take a while... 馃槵

Yeah, it was really easy for the person I picked, I found their personal website which I reach out to first but never heard back, then I reached out to them on twitter and also never heard back, my last ditch effort was to comment on a post, but also never heard back :/

Maybe the people who run the cart design contest or however those carts are made, they could do a check box to agree that the carts could be used in game jams and then we wouldn't have to hunt permission down.

But I'm still pretty happy with what I made so not a huge deal.

Not sure if you're still looking but he's @kaito_creative on instagram. Although I sent a dm a while ago and he hasn't replied so not much luck there either.

I'm not actually on 'gram yet, but if he hasn't got back to you yet I doubt I'd be able to get hold of him before the deadline 馃 Ah well. I've already made a game based on his work, but if permissions become an issue, I've a heck of a backup entry in the works... 馃槑

I sent a couple of messages to the designer and she never answer even for curiousity. 
I think it would be a wonderful idea to have a safe lisf of designers interested in seeing their visual creations become a game, after all that's why they are designing the cases, isn't it? 

Yeah it鈥檚 weird cause you would think they would like their cart to be picked. The person had to have seen mine I sent an email, I was the only one to respond to their tweet and I send a message on twitter, but nothing :/ But not a huge deal was more of a learning experience, this is such a cool Jam idea just the whole hunting people down thing doesn鈥檛 seem to be ideal

I really don't understand it. Maybe they are just there for the fame and they are not really interested in games or releasing ther ideas for someone who could make an interesting game using their art as inspiration... Art should inspire others to make things, but it is possible they want to see their dream come true only if there is some cash.

I wouldn't say it was that, necessarily. A bunch of us devs are hobbyists, meanwhile there's a significant chance a bunch of the artists taking part in Famicase are industry professionals, and as such likely have inboxes stuffed to bursting at the best of times; a request from a complete stranger can easily get overlooked in that sort of situation.

The thing I'm taking away from this is to remember that Famicase and AGBIC are annual things, so I ought to be ready and get more messages out sooner next time 馃憤

(Also Google Translate is your friend - I've been able to get permissions from two Japanese artists thanks to it 馃槉)

I do agree with you, but there is a point on this that does not suit well.

In my case, when there was still working as it was intended I've sent a message on Instagram right in the case image (there where just 4 - 5 comments in there), then I sent 2 messages and reminders... there was no response whatsoever after 3 weeks, so i decide to move on and wait for the next jam.
The fact is we choose a case because the idea or the art engaged us or it gave us some ideas to work in a full (as possible) game but it was hard to contact the owner and after 3 weeks of work, without permission, there is also no game.
Could it be possible to change here and there the theme and characters, then that game will not be here and that's why i quited.

I was lucky that the person I asked replied to me a few days ago. To tell you the truth I started work without asking anyone.

Yeah did too It would have been cool to submit to the jam, but I'll just put it out on my page, was cool to work on any ways :)
