Viewing post in How much editing of assets is allowed?

Not to sound annoying, but it’s extremely subtle edits such as this. Just the face shifted one pixel right. I won’t use this if I don’t get a response, but if you see this Kenney, is this kind of edit also not allowed?

From the FAQ:

You can edit (i.e. crop or change the color) and combine them (i.e. using one sprite in a different sprite)

So If you maybe made that by just reusing other parts of sprites it should be fine, right?

I feel it’s a slippery slope if you allow compositing new sprites with parts of sprites, because you then in theory could make any sprite (is a single pixel a part of a sprite? lmao). I’ll respect the rules and wait until after the jam with the additional edits.

(though I’m just a little salty the “equivalent” is allowed in 3D lmao)

No, you can't edit the sprites. The challenge of the jam is to use the assets as-is, if you're editing them or just drawing new ones you're not adhering to the challenge unfortunately.

Sorry, i am a bit confused since recoloring is allowed, but you say as is now, do you mean recolor in the game engine sort of at run time, or can we still edit in a paint tool to change the colors?
