The concept is really cool, but at first I was super confused playing in Firefox because no instructions appeared and I had to guess what the player wanted. (I then switched to Chrome and there I could see the instructions).
My main gripe with the game loop at the moment is that the player doesn’t seem to know what they want to do. They were going up and down and up again a lot of moves. That is, they didn’t really feel like they were playing the game. But if that was fleshed out some, and as they progressed in the game, they got more and more complex abilities. E.g. if they could pick up a weapon and have to interact with enemies and you have to play both player and enemy actions on each frame.
The game premise also allows for dropping frames as a mechanic that might be something that is allowed every now and then, but if too often, then the player gets frustrated.
And on that topic, I feel like “score” isn’t the best contextualization of how well I was following the instructions. Player mood might be a better gauge with a fail state when they get too upset.
Nice entry all in all, and interesting foundation to build something really cool on.
Thank you very much for your detailed review. It was my first game jam I have ever participated in so I made made mistakes that I in hindsight would never have done. Also the time was up when I had the better ideas. I never expected that some people would find to love the concept.
The concept is pretty good, but even after reading all the tutorials, I didn't quite understand what to do. there were too many demands from the player in a single frame.
Énglish is not my native language so explaining was very hard to do for me, thanks for playing my game!
Nice concept! I can see this being fleshed out into a full puzzle story, or handling players and NPCs, etc!
I will definitly try to flesh this game out. I have many ideas and plans.
Nice visual effect when move out of box :)
Thanks!
