Any "oldschool" C++ gamedev forum/discord?

All my games are written in C++ using my own game engine systems. It makes a lot of fun, but it's kinda a lonely hobby, because all these people today are focusing on Unity, Unreal or Godot to make games.

Now there seem to be a small amount of people who create games with C++ using DX, OpenGL, SDL2, SFML, etc. It just seems there is not really a community place for that. I couldn't find a discord or forum. Is anyone aware of something like that? I am already in some gamedev discords, but I am the only one coding in C++ and creating my own game engines. So, I can't just talk about many things with them.

Is anyone aware of an appropriate community?

Its pretty well known so you may already be familiar with it but the Handmade Hero community may be up your alley. I think the community stuff (including the discord) is under the name “Handmade Network”?

Lotta game dev adjacent and general lower level programming stuff going on in there

You’re not alone; we’re just a bit quiet here.

C++ programmer here too...  My published project was written in C++ using SDL2.  I'm (slowly) learning Vulkan and hope to eventually write a voxel engine with it for development of future games.

Several people on freegamedev.net use C++ but that site is for open source game development. I just started looking at lemmy sites since gamedev on reddit is down.

+1 here, I work with programming engines in C++ for a living, and I'm creating my next 3D game in C++ powered with OpenGL and DX
