Loved your game! I was instantly intimidated by the amount of polish your game has. The fact that you made this all yourself in 10 days is inspiring. I've been striving for this level of quality in my own work.

==============

This is my rubric:
1 - Missing
2 - Somewhat Present
3 - Present
4 - Well Done
5 - Outstanding

==============

Theme (3/5)
[ + + + - - ]

While the "Take a deep breath" mechanic was clever and well implemented, it fails to play a central role in the game. I love all of your mechanics, including this one, but it feels like just another feature.

Gameplay (4/5)
[ + + + + - ]

I had a blast exploring the world you made! I loved getting my deero and having him wherever I went. I loved how we found powerups together, and that he was there cheering me on from the sidelines as I defeated the final boss. Deero is the hero!
The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the narrative style, while adorable, was a bit confusing. I'm still not sure why I fought the boss, nor how the other sprouty's have any bearing on the narrative (other than being freaking adorable; and somewhat menacing at first lol)

Implementation (5/5)
[ + + + + + ]

*Chef's kiss*
I found one or two little bugs with how deero spawned in. I also struggled with platforming to get the jump upgrade. These trivial implementation issues were not enough to make me dock points from the rating. I really loved how polished your game was. Like I said before, your work is inspiring.

Presentation (5/5)
[ + + + + + ]

Loved everything about the presentation INCLUDING the Microsoft-Paint-style opening cutscene. How did you do the pixle art? Any suggestions for someone who's looking to learn the craft?
Bravo, fam! Bravo!

Creativity (4/5)

You've done a spectacular job at applying several video game tropes in a new and unique way. I give you 4 stars for bringing everything together in such a charming way. If there were something particularly unique or new I would have given 5. That said, sometimes being too unique can be distracting. I appreciate what you've done here.

Great work! I loved your game! I played all 5 of my queue before rating them, and yours stands out as the best of the 5. Thanks for a great experience.

What a nice and well detailed review, I really appreciated it! Thank you for playing it. Loved what you said about Deero 💗 . I do the pixel art with Aseprite. The Microsoft-Paint-style was made there with the brush-size 2. I recommend you using a fixed collor pallet, at https://lospec.com/palette-list there a lot good ones.

Thank you so much!!!

As someone who's very new to pixel art are there any tutorials you recommend for aseprite?

At youtube you can type "draw pixel art" and some good ones will show up, and they give nice tips to start, like this by Goodgis, but don't limit yourself by 100% what the tutorials say, listen to the tips, and pick those that better suit or make sense to you. I learn by doing a lot of mockups for personal projects that I never released 😅. Some tips I can give is,  with a small canvas (128x128 or 256x256) start to make small sprites (8x8 to 16x16, but you are free to choose any size) and make random things and different versions from it, this helps you to train your style. Try to draw daily too, make a challenge to draw at least a different object per day, a box, a chest, a sword, a tree, etc. Don't fear to challenge yourself too, try new things sometimes, like animations, tilesets, big drawings, etc. Look for reference at old games, how they did it, look at Twitter the #PixelArt or #ドット絵 and follow the ones that inspire you. With time you'll start to get better. I'm at this journey to improving too, always there's something new to learn.
