I liked the feel of the game and the design of the planets, the exploration idea is good but it could have used more sense of direction and velocity while flying out there, a paralax as others have suggested and either a mini-map or radar of some sort (You did go half-way into the radar idea with the proximity arrow, that was nice).

As I said, great exploration concept, however I would have loved the actual exploration to be less punishing, the fact that you have the planets appearing randomly in the map every new playthrough counters the sense of discovery you earned on your past life, that said I did like the randomness, all I am saying is the 2 concepts between continuity and randomness kinda clash.

I keep coming back to play this for fun! I really like where it's going, and the music is perfect! My biggest request would be a mini-map or something, at least of map areas where you've already been - I spent a lot of play-throughs not sure where I was going and running out of most of my fuel before finding a planet. I also notice that if your mouse isn't above the ship when you take off, you'll immediately take damage. I also like someone's suggestion of a parallax, once you are able to get that working (I FEEL that pain lol).. But I feel like these are pretty easy to address and you have a super solid core gameplay loop!

Great work on the game! However, it would have been nice to get some background activity so you don't feel like you aren't moving when nothing's around you. Otherwise, full marks!

Hey, thank you so much!

I did add a star parallax but that took up a LOT of frames - I was instantiating 2,000 circles with the parallax script on it and it wasn't very good so I had to remove it. In the next update, I'll see if I can add an effective parallax.

So good

Reminds me of a 2D Outer Wilds. Very cool! A landing mechanic would be useful because I kept accidentally smashing into stuff lol as well as a way to show how fast or what direction you're moving in while not near planets. Cool stuff!

Developer

Thank you for the kind words!

Love the music and style, very nice! The ship is very satisfying to control too, and I like the concept of floating from one planet to another until you reach your destination.

If there's anything I would add, it would be a reverse thrust to kill your momentum, and some kind of background activity to make it feel like you're consistently moving through space. Just scrolling the stars would be nice, because I ended up crashing into the edge of the game, and I can't tell how fast I'm going when the thrusters are off without some kind of background movement.

Great job!

I really like the game ! it's like a 2d outerwild and it works well
The refuelling mechanic is very cool
I played around 15 min but I did not find the planet.
it makes me want to create a space exploration game :D

Developer

I'd love to see a space exploration game from you!

what a charming game! love the art style and music, the control is fun and intuitive. Very well done and well polished. Though if there's one thing that's lacking it would be having an objective for the player. Overall great job!

Developer

Hi! Thanks for the kind words :)

There actually is an objective, it's hinted in the game's opening. (Your goal is to find the desolate wasteland planet)

Ahhh I see, I just pressed skip whenever I see "skip" on the screen and try to get into the action haha

Developer

Hah, I know the feeling

Really well made! I'm impressed! You accomplished so much, solid game. It seems to run so smoothly! I wish I could be as clear as you  when it comes to instructing the player. I learned so much just by making note of your choices (the billboard sign - ! - , the clear cut story)... Fantastic job from conception to execution! Very good use of soundtrack & sound design too, I was thoroughly involved... Spent above average time playing it. I would keep working on it, if I were you, especially in the art work, but that's just polishing... Thank you for sharing it!

Developer

Hey, thank you so much! I'm glad you learned some new things from playing my game, it means a lot. The music and audio were made by my brother.

I am thinking of adding some more celestial bodies as stars, supernovae, etc.

Very nice! I had a blast with the rocket, no pun intended. It was super fun to control and I really liked the indicators to tell you how far you were from planets and if you were on course to hit an asteroid. Some of the planets didn't allow me to harvest, and I would've liked a little more energy. Also don't be like me go down just to crash on the bottom of the screen. Great sound effects, music and feel. One of the coolest yet!

Developer(+1)

Thanks very much! Loved your game too, didn't get a chance to comment yet though. Also, you can harvest energy from all the planets, but some of them are a little unconventional >:)

I'll give it another play and see if I can figure out how to harvest those weird planets!

One of best games so far! Really love it. Although I could only get to 2 lightning planets and 1 green planet where I got trees. But after that there seemed to be no more planets near so I used all my fuel to go full power and eventually crashed into nothingness lol

Developer(+1)

Hey, thanks a lot! Yeah, the planet generation system is a bit weird. One time, I saw two planets overlapping... Inside a black hole.

This game is so cool. I really like the art style and feel of the game. I got a bit confused about where my main objective was and I think I crashed into the edge of the universe and exploded haha. Really fun game and I love the idea that the robots have been wiped out by nature, cool twist :)
