Updating the game - question

Hi! :)

I have a question regarding updates to the game ->

I wanted to update the game due to already recieving some useful feedback regarding controls and content while witnessing players play the game and I read on other posts that there is some room to update the games as long as there is gamejam version still available to play and is clearly displayed as such. My version was posted as 'Play In Browser' version though. I was wondering, if I can export PC version, which is exact same as the one currently playing in the browser and include warning in the game description (or banner, to display it more visibly at the top of the page, so everyone would see that message first), that for voting and a jam version one should download the PC one marked as "Gamejam edition" for example? I was expecting voting to be max week long, the same as jam. I just dont want to wait 1,5 month to update the game on my page as some things are still bothering me about it so I'm eager to fix it already :P

My post is regarding the game "The Last of Dingus" if it wont be visible in this topic.

yes, that's perfectly fine. It's good that you can create a downloadable;

In case it's not possible to create a downloadable, the alternative would be to host it externally and provide a link in the submission page, for jurors and curious people to be able to reach the original submission easily.

Got it :) Thank You for the response!

Would it also be ok to upload the web build to a new public game page and put that link at the top of the description. That way the original can remain a web version too.

i.e. "This is the original submitted version of the game" which links to a game page with the submitted web build.

I'd also like to know this because turns out that downloads don't work if SharedArrayBuffer support is enabled (which I needed to enable for the web version to work since I used Godot 4) so creating another page could help circumvent this issue.

@Flyce_9998 if there was a technical issue during exporting preventing your game to be played, you can submit the fix (just point out it is the original submission, just with that technical fix). You can do this on the same game page.

@SaitoInteractive Just make sure there's a way to play the original submission from the game page you submitted as part of the challenge; it can be a link to an external website or a link to another itch.io page (although that second option might get confusing for the reviewers)
