Nice idea. The movement was a little too slippery but not too bad. Visuals are simple but nice. Are the ghosts supposed to stop just outside your reach? The only ways to lose seem to be to accidentally run into them or not get wood fast enough, they never seem to actively kill/spook you.

Yeah, the ghosts are supposed to continually move toward the player and touch them but the hitboxes are a little too forgiving, so it's basically impossible for them to completely touch you unless you mess up. I think my mistake is that the lerping code for the ghost movement never fully reaches its destination. It's always just a fraction away from the target.
