This is a cute little visual novel. It's not perfect, but it's a decent story, witty, and doesn't drag on.

I wouldn't say the art is bad, but the style didn't really click for me. I think it's pretty well done, and the "breathing" animations add a lot of life to the characters. I didn't like the weird "dream" background, it made things hard to see, but I liked the other backgrounds.

The mix of animated cutscenes and things that are just described in text is a bit disappointing. I'm not sure if it was because of time constraints, but it definitely felt like the animations got more sparse toward the end of the game.

There are a lot of nice touches like the transition with the logo and magic sound. I thought the music was a bit sparse, but well chosen.

The pacing of the story felt way too fast. Amai and the other magical girls basically become friends in one interaction each, and every situation is resolved in a few lines. I think it's better to have pacing that's too fast than pacing that's too slow, especially for a jam game.

The timing of the jokes is, however, pretty good.

I'm of two minds on the branching in this game. Trying different decisions and trying to get all the endings definitely adds to the replay value, but it also feels repetitive especially at the very beginning. I think it would have been better to have fewer paths that are more fleshed out.

The "eat the donut" ending is definitely appreciated.

I did realize later that the game has saves and I could have cut down on some of the repetitiveness. It's kind of on me for not realizing that, but autosaves might have been a good idea.

Finally, I was expecting a much darker game from the content warnings. It's not as sweet as it first appears, but there's nothing I really found that disturbing in the game.

For the UI/Save, once you get used to Visual Novel and specifically those made with Ren’py, it gets very easily to navigate. Right-click to open Save menu, you can also use Quick Save/Load (Q. Save/Load). And for quick decision rewind, you can even mouse scroll up.

Ren’py also includes auto-save on decision branches. Open Menu > Load > A (also Q for Quick saves). I didn’t even know about this before searching, I used to manually save on every branch, but this is much more convenient!

I did recognize this as a Ren'py game, and I was mostly familiar with Ren'py's built-in features, but for some reason it totally slipped my mind until after I'd played the game. Auto-save on decision branches is new to me, though, so thanks for pointing that out.
