Description
I used OpenMPT as DAW
Genre is mainly digital fusion, but I also did orchestra work on this.

The track Zero Steps Backwards represents our hero going to their mission to preserve this icy world (the bridge in the level)

The track Heal the Bridge! represents the bridge preservation while birds are escaping the light of the Sun. It's basically a boss battle theme.

The track Global Warning is the second step of the bridge preservation boss battle against the light of the Sun. This time, the Sun is shiny even more and the bridge has unfortunately more chances to break down.

Artist comment:
OST Composing Jam entry about a hero defending their icy home from the light of the Sun.

Theme:

Two Worlds
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
I tried to do three soundtracks for this jam. One that would represent the icy atmosphere of our hero's world and their mission ongoing ; one for the light of the Sun trying to destroy the bridge ; and one for the Sun strengthening the light and making the ice and permafrost easier to break down.

This is just amazing! I love the jazzy feel, it gives heavy Kirby vibes, which I love, and is so much fun to listen too. Honestly one of the highest quality soundtracks in the Jam. Outstanding job!

Catchy af, never a dull moment! I love the retro PSX like vibe in Heal the Bridge, definitely my favorite.

Very jazzy!

Wow, it sounds really cool. It feels like you're performing "Zero Steps Backward" freestyle :D

All 3 tracks sound amazing, and they are all unique in their own aspects. I can see you're a very versatile composer!

One question though, in "Global Warning" 1:03, the high notes runs, I can hear very nice panning. Did you automate the panning or did the library automatically do it for you? It sounds great :)

Hello. Yes, I play sax on Zero Steps Backwards! And about Global Warning, I indeed used the Yxx command in OpenMPT which allows you to do a nice panning. I placed this command in every line of the row of the pattern where the arps play.

Thank you so much for enjoying tho! (^^)

oh nice! I’ll check out Yxx in OpenMPT. Thanks for sharinf!

I gotta be honest, these tracks don't sound icy at all to me, but boy do they sound cool! (No pun intended)

Developer

Thanks. That's a nice pun haha.

And yeah, I get the tracks don't especially represent the icy atmosphere described here. Only a few instruments do.  I didn't have time to put all of what I wanted to describe for this project, but basically I tried to capture the action more than the space-time elements.

This was awesome! So much energy in each track. Heal the Bridge! is especially catchy.

Ah man I love this! Zero Steps Back and Heal The Bridge feel very Dreamcast/PSX while Global Warning feels very Sega arcade machine. Each track has so much energy and joy coursing through it. This was a pleasure a listen to!

Nice tracks here! Viva OpenMPT ^_^.
Ending of Heal the Bridge with crows sounds sounds like from another world.

I liked this very much! Great old school vibe. Very rhythmic. Some great melodies too.

Global Warning is a gem. I love that intro with the siren.
