It's all the little things - the hit effects, the height variance of the bullets, the squashing and stretching of the sprites in the jump, even the animated static on the portraits in the text boxes - that make this feel like the most polished entry I've played so far. I know how much it takes to get the major features in (like, you know, JUMP and SHOOT) that to see all the little details that are in here just blows my mind. Also the art itself is so crisp and overall cohesive. And it didn't even (noticeably?) break on me. It's great. Fantastic job.
