Donations on mobile games

I just published a page for a game that is only available on android and ios. I have the links to the stores for download so it is from the official source. My understanding is that the donate option only appears when someone clicks on a download button. Since the page only has links to the stores, there is no download on the page, how do donations work? What would you do to allow donations on this page?

Dunno... offer the Android version as a download from Itch? Sure, people would have to fiddle with their phone settings to install it, but that's pretty common. Or else offer promotional material for download, such as (I give this example a lot) desktop wallpapers.Last but not least, would it be possible to upload a web-playable version?

thanks for your response. As a user, I wouldn't want to download an apk directly. That is how phones get spyware and malware. I did think about just offering a promotional thing but im not really sure what it would be. I don't think a desktop wallpaper could really be made with this game but Ill try to think of something. Lastly, a web version of this game is not available because you need a touchscreen to play it effectively which most computers don't have. And it wasnt really build to be played on a browser :/

We currently don't support this right now, if you want the download -> donation screen to be available then you have to have some file available. Alternatively, all HTML5 and browser games have a plain donation button.

I'm wondering if maybe we could have an option to show the donation dialog when clicking on the app store link before leading the user away from itch.io? That might be a bit obtrusive though.

Is there a way to customize the page and allow the plain donation button to show up for non browser games? It would be a nice feature to enable for any page.
