Can you show me what your Our Life folder looks like if you're using Mac or PC? If you're on Android, make sure to redownload the main game after installing the DLC.

The info is doubled for some reason. Do you have any extra files somewhere? It might be best to delete the game and DLCs, and check that you don't have multiple versions of the file. When you're sure there's nothing else, you can download the game/DLC again to make sure everything is there just once. Deleting the build/files won't mean your progress/saves are deleted, they'll still be there when you get the game back.

Did you redownload the base game? Downloading a DLC will open the DLC file that registers the DLC but isn't playable. To play the game, that has to be the most recent thing you downloaded.
Then it's possible the updated files have gotten the attention of your virus scanner and it's blocking the game. Every time there's an update at least a few people end up having the game be falsely labeled as dangerous because each time new content is added there's a new chance for that to happen. Or it could be that the install had an error and trying again now that a little time has passed will have it install alright and be playable.
I'm sorry to say that we're no longer adding new names for this project. And only Cove has voiced names, they don't apply to Derek or Baxter or any other character. But when it comes to Cove, it does work in all four Steps.
It fixed some issues people had with the overall game since we changed the way Android versions were installed. If you're having no problems, you don't need to worry about it!

Genuinely sweet and well-crafted game! Cove is so sweet and interesting so I was delighted to see how he grew as the game progressed. I haven't played any of the DLCs yet but I definitely will be coming back to see those eventually. Got me way more emotional than I thought it would too, some really good stuff in here about change and growing up. So good!

Hello, I had a question on how to do the following instructions on how to play this game on Android, but both me or my step dad (who is a technician) can't figure out what the introductions are tell us to do. Like what rpa file do I download and how do I move on from there as there is no where that I've seen shows where I'd get a file that has a rpa indexation. Like I downloaded the android version like it said and when the instructions said to download a rpa file and seeing the one I downloaded had a different thing in it's name I was thrown into a loop as to what that file was or where it was. Like is it a whole other thing or is it a file within this website?
I would love to play it on mobile as it's one of my favorite, so I'd like to understand how to do so. Please and thank for your time
The rpa, or rpy if you had the older version, is downloaded on this page. Then you just put it in the "game" folder of Our Life. If you're having trouble getting the file to download, maybe your Android doesn't trust the file. If you're having trouble knowing how to add the file to the game, there's a more detailed guide posted in the past by omniastarr-
These steps worked for me and at least one other user on here (I have a samsung s10. Also, I know there are a lot of steps, but it took me less than 5 minutes):
1. Download the base game from itch.io (this is an .apk file)
2. Download the DLC(s) you purchased (these are .rpa files)
3. Download and install Amaze File Manager from the Play Store
4. Install the base game by clicking on the .apk file and following the prompts to install
5. Open the Amaze app and follow the prompts to allow access to your files, as well as grant "All files access" (clicking Grant will take you to the Settings location, but you'll have to find Amaze in the list, click on its name, and toggle "Allow access to all files" on)
6. Once that setting is toggled on, go back to Amaze and find your Downloads folder there. Inside should be all your .rpa files.
7. Long press on the first .rpa file you want to install and then click on the rest. All of them should be highlighted before the next step.
8. Once highlighted, click on the copy button (an icon of two rectangles in front of each other) at the top of the app
9. Navigate to your Android folder within the Amaze app, then the data folder inside of it. You might have to allow another access prompt here.
10. Scroll down to the "ourlife.demo.apk" file and click on it, then the "files" file inside.
11. At the top of the app, there should be a new folder button (picture of a folder with a +). Click that and make a new folder called "game".

Thanks for the help but I did have trouble understanding if I had to paste the copy files into the data file and if so then there might be a problem as I get an error when trying to do so sadly. And I when I look back I don't see the file at all in the data files. So I'm just a bit confused about that step, I think it was step 9 to 10. But if this is error is just because of my phone then that sucks butt but thank you for helping 👍🏼

You don't need to purchase the Voiced Name DLC. You just take the .rpa file downloaded from this page and put it into the Our Life "game folder" that you get from the main Our Life: Beginnings and Always page! Also, don't use the Itch app to download the DLC, that doesn't seem to work for people. It's best to download directly from the website.

Sorry for the inconvenience but I dont know if its just my phone being dumb or something, but it won't let me edit the game files to add in the dlcs- every time i tap the file it asks if i want to open the app, even when i have the dlcs copied and ready to move. I have a galaxy note 10 if that helps with anything, and i also want to add i've downloaded multiple types of file managers/apk editors and nothing worked- i'm not very savvy when it comes to this sort of thing, though, so I may be just doing something wrong?

I was alerted to updates to both the base game and all the dlc, so I set them to download, only for all the expansions (Step 1, 2, and 3, and Voiced name) to fail with the message:

For those facing problems, my experience was that the base game worked fine in the app, but downloading the dlcs in the app made it freak out. Downloading them through the website and then installing them in the base game's file worked, but then even the base game wouldn't run. So I uninstalled it, then reinstalled (still in the app), checked all the files were where they needed to be, and lo and behold, it works. Yay \0v0/
I extracted the rpy files and the voices. The game has all the extra names, yet when I click on one of them it has this error screen. I tried to quit the game and play again, but it still has the same error as before. I don't really know what the problem is.
I'm sorry you're having trouble. Can you give me a screenshot of your game folder? The error is saying the name file isn't there so something about where the names were put seems to be off.
Do you know where the "voices" folder from the expansion pack is? I see you added the rpys, which unlock the screen, but I can't see the folder that includes all the voiced name sound files. Maybe you missed copying it over?
I copied and pasted the contents of it. The cove_step1-3 are the voice folders. Do I need to extract the whole voice folder? (the one with the blue highlight)
I don't know how else to explain it, but this game is an emotional roller coaster. I love it. I wish more games were like this allowing for many endings and not one cookie cutter ending regardless of choices.
So I have a new pc now, so I lost my save file anyway I love the game so I take my time and then I was ready to play the game again. Only 10 minutes past in the first step and the game close with this error. I try erase my dlcs and only run the game, then put the voice dlc if that was but dont work. My voice named is an option however I don't hear Cove saying it throughout the game. The name is present in text however I can't hear it. Is there anything I can do to fix that?
It's possible the files aren't in the right spot. Can you take a screenshot of your folder? Though, the name is only said about once per event. It doesn't happen all the time, so it's also possible you didn't hit the points where it happened.
Hello!! So, I've been playing this game for a few months and I love it! When I saw there was a voiced name DLC, I downloaded it immediately. However, even when I followed all of the download instructions perfectly (several times over, downloading and redownloading both the game and DLC), I cannot hear any of the names on the selection screen or in-game. Is there any way I'm still doing something wrong? I'm on MacOS, if that helps. Thanks ^^
Can you take everything in the "Voiced Name DLC" folder out of that folder and put it directly in the "game" folder? You can just delete the empty "Voiced Name DLC" folder. All that's needed are the actual files in the game folder.
So I downloaded the game plus bought all the DLCs. How will I know if the DLCs actually worked? Is there an option that shows that they have been added to the game?
If the DLC is unlocked there will be 10 Moments available on the Moment Select screen rather than five. If you see the Moments are still locked you can save the game, close it out, make sure they DLC files are the right spot, and then reload the game. The extra scenes will become available in all save files once the DLC content is set in the game folder, so you won't have to restart or anything if there was a problem at first.
I downloaded, unzipped and installed the files as instructed, but I only get a handful of names under each alphabet tab - it's never more than seven or eight names, and the full list never appears despite the files all being present in the voices folders. Could there be something I've done wrong?
I'm sorry I missed this comment! It's possible the display isn't showing you the scroll bar. There should be a way to go down the page to reveal more names. Can you share a screenshot of what your voiced name looks like?

I see. That's the old version of the screen. It seems you need to update part of your game build. Either re-downloading the base game itself, getting the newest version of one or all of the DLCs, starting a fresh file instead of loading a save, or all of that. Can you try that to see if it works?
My laptop died and I had to get a new one, so I had to do a reinstall of the game - this worked perfectly, I needed the new version of the game. Thank you so much and again, apologies for the length of time between my replies. It is such a great game with so much thought put into it!! Will enjoy starting over with a new save. :)

So, I downloaded the game to use on android and installed it, making sure to close it before adding the voiced names dlc.
Got the rpa, went to my file manager, Android, Data
And that's it-
There's no subfolders within there.
I don't think I can add the dlc if the game folder doesn't somehow exist...

So apparently I can't access the contents of this folder using samsung's own file browser, *despite* enabling the option to see hidden system files

My voice named is an option however I don't hear Cove saying it throughout the game. The name is present in text however I can't hear it. Is there anything I can do to fix that?
It's possible the files aren't in the right spot. Can you take a screenshot of your folder? Though, the name is only said about once per event. It doesn't happen all the time, so it's also possible you didn't hit the points where it happened.

Hello!! So, I've been playing this game for a few months and I love it! When I saw there was a voiced name DLC, I downloaded it immediately. However, even when I followed all of the download instructions perfectly (several times over, downloading and redownloading both the game and DLC), I cannot hear any of the names on the selection screen or in-game. Is there any way I'm still doing something wrong? I'm on MacOS, if that helps. Thanks ^^
Can you tell me where the files are in your version? It should look something like this, but with the voiced name folder instead of the DLC folder.

Can you take everything in the "Voiced Name DLC" folder out of that folder and put it directly in the "game" folder? You can just delete the empty "Voiced Name DLC" folder. All that's needed are the actual files in the game folder.

So I really want this game but when I pick download it says stuff like this can hurt my phone... is it save to download?

So I downloaded the game plus bought all the DLCs. How will I know if the DLCs actually worked? Is there an option that shows that they have been added to the game?
If the DLC is unlocked there will be 10 Moments available on the Moment Select screen rather than five. If you see the Moments are still locked you can save the game, close it out, make sure they DLC files are the right spot, and then reload the game. The extra scenes will become available in all save files once the DLC content is set in the game folder, so you won't have to restart or anything if there was a problem at first.
I downloaded, unzipped and installed the files as instructed, but I only get a handful of names under each alphabet tab - it's never more than seven or eight names, and the full list never appears despite the files all being present in the voices folders. Could there be something I've done wrong?
I'm sorry I missed this comment! It's possible the display isn't showing you the scroll bar. There should be a way to go down the page to reveal more names. Can you share a screenshot of what your voiced name looks like?

I see. That's the old version of the screen. It seems you need to update part of your game build. Either re-downloading the base game itself, getting the newest version of one or all of the DLCs, starting a fresh file instead of loading a save, or all of that. Can you try that to see if it works?
My laptop died and I had to get a new one, so I had to do a reinstall of the game - this worked perfectly, I needed the new version of the game. Thank you so much and again, apologies for the length of time between my replies. It is such a great game with so much thought put into it!! Will enjoy starting over with a new save. :)
