Thanks for feedback :D Yes, it was intended - I wanted to create the effect of having a story that visibly has a history. However I didn't find a solution to automatically scroll down to the new text and highlight it; maybe I should indeed change back to the regular replacement system.

Hm, well, I have not used Twine as a creator so I don't know exactly how you've set it up, but I wonder how difficult it would be to simply add a separation line? Just so it's a bit clearer where the history ends and the new content begins.
