Oculus VS SteamVR tip for playing / rating games on Windows

To find out whether you need to use Oculus or SteamVR you can go into the game's [GameName]_Data>Plugins>x86_64 folder

If you see:

  • OpenVR --- requires SteamVR
  • OVR -- requires Oculus
  • OpenXR -- works on either, but will start whichever you have set as your active OpenXR runtime

I wish more of these were OpenXR, I feel like I can't even play half of these games cause they're Oculus only. :(

You might consider https://github.com/LibreVR/Revive if you want to try games made for Oculus on a non-Oculus headset

Oh cool. I have heard of this program but I actually thought it cost money. Well that's good to know.
