I Have an Idea For My First Indie Game, But I Don't Know What to Do

- IMPORTANT UPDATE -

I wrote what's been going on with me, this past week and why I won't able to develop my game, currently. If you want to see those reasons, scroll down to the replies.

As you read from the title, I'm literally just starting out here. I don't have much knowledge with game development, at the moment, but there's many games that I really want to see become a reality and not just stuck in my head. But I want to start off small, something simple in comparison to what I want to make, down the line. Currently, there's an idea of a rhythmic, platform runner game that I have in mind and behind the scenes, I'm actually teaching myself to make electronic music and while I'm okay (at best), it's been a slower than usual process.

Long story short, I came across a YouTuber named "Goodgis" and his recommendation on this website. So far, this website is pretty cool and he mentioned something that this website usually has going all the time called "Game Jams" and this is my first one. If anyone finds this funny or silly, I understand. There's multiple talented folks within this website, as well as just the indie game scene in general, yes I'm aware but still.

Jam Host

Cool, it's an honor for me to host your first jam.

If you need help with development you can always ask around in our discord server, (the link is on the jam page)

Also I will be making a Rhythm Game Tutorial for Unity soon, unsure about Godot.

I hope you have fun during this jam! :)

Okay, thanks. I just hope that I can actually make something, though.

Cool that you want to try a game jam :o
I wish you good luck and hope you can make a cool game, just keep in mind to keep your goal rather low and easy to achive, and when you have time left expand on it. (dont make the same mistakes i do way too often >.<)

Yeah, that's what I'm aiming for. Just something small, but simple.

(7/24/2021) My mini Update:

I feel I should tell whoever's reading this what's been going on, behind the scenes with me. I haven't feeling good since Wednesday this week. I've been coughing a lot, I've been blowing my nose constantly, and fast forward to today (7/24/2021) and I start feeling a bit better, but just to make sure it isn't what I think it is, one of my supervisors over where I work at in real life recommended that I should get tested for covid, before potentially coming back to work.

Long story short, I found out that I'm positive. I've really been trying to start development on my game for awhile now with the only progress I made, so far has been a few songs (which still aren't done yet), but with all this crap that I had to go through, this week, the only thing I've been able to do is just lay in my bed.

Hopefully, if I get through this, I can actually start making the game, but it's obvious that I'm going to have to miss this Game Jam. However, I do hope that whoever is apart of this Game Jam will make some awesome games, but hopefully had a much more pleasurable experience making it than what's going on with me, as of writing this.
