I really liked the gimmick with using the statue form to cancel your horizontal momentum. The gameplay in general was fun but a bit fiddly, which came to a peak in the level where you need to use the statue transformation to bounce off the slime blocks and reach the fan. I probably tried it over three dozen times and didn't even get close to clearing that jump. The rules regarding when and how long you can turn into statue form and still be able to bounce off the slime seemed pretty arbitrary and confusing to me.

FINALLY!!! Did you know that you are only the second person to try and use the fliiping steel mechanic? Anyways, while in the air, quickly press C and instantly release to bounce on the slime… Thanks for the feedback!

I was doing that but I couldn't get high enough to clear the pit. The fan just blew me back down into the cannon.

Developer

Tip: do it three times in a row

Mr. Boombastic Ups and Downs

Ups:

  • Graphics are nice
  • Concept is cool, and the implementation of it feels pretty nice

Downs:

  • There is an extreme difficulty curve on the second level. Maybe I just suck at the game, but I can't beat it. The jump is just barely too high to be passed clearly.

Overall, I wish I had more to say, but I just couldn't get far enough to experience much more of your game :(

You were given two moves: Make bomb and turn into steel

Really cool idea !!

But I think that level can't be completed :(

Anyways, you have my rating :)

Developer

Lmao, you’re one of many who can’t finish my game… I will improve on this game by adding more features and levels… maybe a practice gamemode too…

An interesting idea, however, couldn't land the jumps past at the first 2 levels, so I can't say much about

Developer

It’s okay, I am planning to add a few features to the game like a togable indicator to where you might land, better sfx, 10 new levels and actual background music

Overall, I enjoyed the concepts behind this game! It's a very unique platformer, and I like that there are so many added elements that show up later on. They make most of the later levels very fun!

One thing I would note though is that the jumps to get to one block level higher are very difficult (like in the second level). It's very tough to tell where you need to position yourself to launch onto the next block level higher, and it seems that position is very precise. I think this would not be too much of an issue if there was some visual point of reference to line yourself up with, like if the default floor was tiled so that you can line yourself up with those lines. Or, alternatively, maybe the jump height can be increased very slightly (or maybe just have the gravity be lower), just so those jumps are easier to make. All the other parts of the game were great, but whenever there were these jumps the difficulty was much higher. I feel like it took me a long time to get through everything, I got a time of about 22 minutes haha!

Besides those specific jumps, I enjoyed the game!

I actually had the idea to have an outline and a line render to show you where the bomb will launch you.
