I'll be completely honest, my first few years in Construct I find to be a waste, because I didn't learn the fundamentals. I did everything in the worst way possible: no structure, didn't use layers properly, ignored most features.

What helped me a lot is looking closely at tutorials and breaking down what and how they're doing. For example, Viridino Studios are putting out a lot of great game templates, I learned tons from them.

Well, I have dilemma with using proprietary software. Mostly it’s hard for me to track down the current bugs they have and I can’t inspect how they implement some features. It’s quite crucial for me to know how the rendering engine works and the limitation of their physics engine.
