Excited about getting started! (trying to not get too excited)

I'm excited for the jam to start, and I'm trying so hard to temper my exploding list of ideas with the reality of what I can get finished in 7 days. 馃榿  I'm planning on using Unity for development, and I've messed around with that in the past, but it's been years.  I'm watching Unity tutorial videos right now because I don't even remember how to start.  馃槀

I work full time (tech support dork), have kids, yada yada, so my goal is to have a working game by the end of Sunday, 4/4.   That will give me 3 evenings and 2 full days to grind something out. Then the next two evenings I can spend on bugs and polishing. And if I need to, I can call in sick on 4/7 to sprint to the end! 馃ぃ No, I probably won't do that.

So I may not end up with hand painted fully animated 3d characters, procedurally generated dungeons, natural language processing, AI story teller.. lol.. I hope to actually FINISH SOMETHING and get a working game submitted by 4/7.

Good luck to you all. Looking forward to seeing some new Grid Based FPS Dungeon Crawlers!

Hey! Glad to see the excitement! I am pretty stoked as well, and have also been devising plans to knock out a game in just a couple days because I work most of the week in retail. I can say, my number one rule right now is keeping it simple. I'm not competing to win, just competing with myself to see if I can get a finished product out in a short amount of time :P

I look forward to playing your work!

That's a really good philosophy.  Well, both keeping it simple, and also competing with your self.

Well, good luck fellow GBFPSDC maker!  I'm looking forward to playing your game as well!

I am excited to see what you all create :) I agree that keeping things light and small is a good idea. Time is short and it's better to cut corners and shave off functionality and get something done than going overboard with fancy mechanics and visuals. One can always continue the project after the jam is done and do further polish then. I wish you good luck and try to have fun! :)

Thanks zooperdan!  And thanks for hosting and organizing this game jam!
