As a big fan and mostly skilled player of rhythm games, and this was a refreshing and enjoyable way to play and enjoy the music! I found myself going back to play instruments again and again. The music, rhythm game gameplay and the way you create music by finding and playing instruments was great! Keep up the great work!

Developer

Hi, thank you! That's great to hear :) I'm glad you enjoyed it even as an experienced rhythm game player~

Woah- so swaggy!  As a fan of rhythm games AND lofi, this game was great. And not only was it just fit to my taste, the aesthetics were absolutely STUNNING! Can't wait for the next levels to come out!

Developer

Hi thank you! If you're interested you can sign up to be a playtester here, and you'll have a chance to try the new levels when I next do playtesting (maybe some time this spring?)

I love the music that you created and I think you're going to succeed as a musician in this game. I like how you can make your own beats and make whatever you decide in your mind and soul and when you get that feeling of calm music, you feel like you in another world or any type of realm you're infilled with music and other stuff like this and I appreciate all of your efforts and work you have done in this game and I would like to see more of your work and keep up the good work. :)

Questions: 1. How many days have you spent working on this game? 2. How did this inspire you to make this game full of music? 3. What is your favorite music you like to listen to all the time and why? (it can be anything honestly) 4. What do you focus on with music? I approve of this comment and I hope you love it! <3

Hi thanks for taking the time to take such an interest in the game :) I’m glad you enjoyed it so much! To answer your questions:

  1. I made the first version of the game in ~3 weeks for Music Game Jam, that was in October 2018. But that was a really different version to now, you can see what it was like in this video. I’ve been working on it on and off over the past ~2 years. I do it in my free time so the amount of time I get to work on it changes a lot. I’m working to make a ~15/20 level version of the game at the moment, and I’ve got around ~10 levels finished so far.
  2. The inspiration for the game is a little difficult to explain. I specifically wanted to take part in that Music Game Jam, so I started thinking of music game ideas. I like point and click games and I liked the visual aesthetic and atmosphere of lo-fi hip hop channels. So I tried combining those things. There’s more to it than that but that’s the simplified version.
  3. The music I listen to is pretty varied, but the genres I probably come back to the most are probably extreme metal (black metal, death metal, doom metal) and grime. But I do listen to lots of other stuff too. I tend not to like a lot of pop music that much, I tend to prefer stuff that’s a bit more raw and unpolished. I mostly listen to music when I’m working, usually longer atmospheric music to help me concentrate. I suppose what I like most in music is the atmosphere and feeling it creates, and I try to do that for the music in the game.
  4. I’m not 100% sure what you meant here. But when I make songs I usually start with the image of the level and then try and create music that matches it. I create a small loop and start adding instruments and musical ideas over the top of it. I usually start with the drums or a melody. I wrote this reply once to explain how I make the music in more detail. Because I’m limited to 4 notes per instrument and the loops are short it helps to keep me focused and finish it.

Hope that answers your questions~

Um. Looks like the comments are fake or something.

Developer(+1)

Hi, I see what you mean. But I'm pretty sure they're legit, at least as far as I know~

(+1)

Oh well, the game is done well. 13/10 would attempt again.

Developer(+1)

Haha, thanks~

This is honestly cool.. however when playing the song for the final time, its not a perfect loop, is it just mine?  Anyways.. Keep up the good work!!

Developer

Hi thank you! :) And thanks for the feedback. I've heard that a few times, but I'm not sure when that is happening. Could you answer a couple of questions to help me figure out whats going on please?

1. Are you playing on Windows, Mac or in a web browser? If you're playing in a browser, which one?

2. Did the looping problem happen while the game was in the background (i.e. open in another tab while you were doing something else)?

3. Did the problem happen on any specific room or all of them?

4. Does it only happen when you complete all the instruments or is the loop imperfect when only a few instruments are completed too?

Thanks!

(+1)

Sorry late reply, I'm not that active on Itch

here's my answers:
1.) I play on chrome browser using a windows laptop

2.)  It happened while I was playing.

3.) All rooms

4.)  while I was still on the phase of finding the instruments, the looping is fine and continuous but after I found them all and I'm listening to the final product, there's a bit of a break in between loops

Thank You and I love your work!!

Developer

Ok thank you for getting back to me, that's really helpful!

I will put it on the list of things to look into, I've heard people mention this problem a few times but I haven't managed to see it myself yet. It's a hard problem to find and because of the way I do the looping, I think it might be hard to fix too. Having said that, hopefully your answers will help point me in the right direction! :)

Goodluck and Have a great day!! ;)

Developer

Thanks, you too~
