This is one of my favourite mechanics in a platformer - Gravity inversion!
I played a lot of flash games back in the day with this mechanic, and this game was a walk down the memory lane. So much FUN!

The level design was smart but need a bit of tweaking and smoothing on the edges.

The cherry on the cake is the goldfish character!

Mine too hehe, thank you very much for the feedback we will have it in mind to continue improving 🥰

Nice well rounded and polished game, as others said, could use a little bit of softing on the difficult curve, but it totally makes sense for a Jam game, congratz on the submission guys!

Fun game, nice character. Second spike-wall level already was too hard for me :-D

Developer(+1)

hahaha thanks Fabian! It has some hard ones but is fun to try 😁. Thanks for sharing

The goldfish is very cute indeed! A very nicely polished entry! :)

I got as far as the green (grassy) levels before getting frustrated and giving up. I struggled a bit with controlling the character's horizontal movement precisely so succeeding often felt more like luck than skill. Tapping the controls for fine adjustments didn't seem to do much. Maybe you used physics based movement, so the friction prevents movement until you get some momentum?

The gravity inversion mechanic reminded me of a game called VVVVVV from 2010:

Thanks a lot for your feedback!

Yes, you have reason about that, the friction prevents to move too fast for the first 0.5s more or less, we liked how the effect worked and we decided to go with that :)

And yes, you are right, VVVVVV has been our main inspiration for this game!

Thank you Matt! Your feedback is really helpful for us! And thanks for try our game. 😁👏

Very cute goldfish! Definitly need a plush version of that ^^
I really enjoyed the twist of replacing the ability to jump with the gravity inversion. The spike hitboxes were quite punishing at times, but I liked that the timer wasn't super though, giving enough time to try and do each "jump" properly instead of failing due to feeling the urge to rush.

Thanks for your words PurpleSloth! We really appreciate it! the twist with the gravity is really something right? you can fly around the levels ..and of course we don't want to make the game "that" easy, so yes, the hit-boxes are quite hard :P  .. but don't worry you have a lot of time and a really chill music. Thanks!
