The only way I've tested chromebooks is with the html5 version (the "demo" version), which sounds like you've already tried? Buying the game just gets you access to PC/Mac/Linux downloads, so it won't help with chromebooks.
I really do want to make sure the html5 version works on chromebooks... could you describe the lag a little more? Does it start fine and get slower? If you hold down the comma key, you can see the framerate in the lower-left. What rates are you getting?

Oh, also, I don't have an ipad so haven't been able to test it there at all. It really wants a mouse & keyboard though, so I wouldn't count on it working well.
Cool, thanks for the report! I think I gotta say that I can't support fixing the iPad (it would require an overhaul of the UI to figure out how to make the controls work without a mouse) but the fact that it's not running well on chromebook is concerning.
I'm adding the slowdown to my to-do list for the next update. It's been a problem for years but has been getting worse..... definitely one of those maddingly-hard-to-track-down bugs. 😅
it starts out grate but soon gets worse and worse and if i speed up the time it gets worse even faster when i send it back to 100% speed
also ive reticently made several vary complex fish that have jaws and avoid obstetricals and are relatively fast. a small one who is still vary big compared to othere things. a larger one whos only slightly bigger and was more of a exparament. and today i whent complacently over bord and made a giant fish and its super fast and can kill everything that i put infront of it. but you see the problem is i cant save my fish and i really dont want to lose my latest monstrosity. can you help? when i try to save it just said name is unavailable no matter what i do. btw amma post my maga fish on the sub reddit
Congrats on the monstrosity! Hm. That's the first time I've heard of not being able to save because no names are available. You can't overwrite existing creatures on the server (because then you could delete other people's) — to confirm, you've tried a number of different names?
Anything pro-maga is not allowed and will be removed. You're welcome to name it something else though. :)

I'm still not sure why the server was telling you that the name was taken — it happened for me too. I suspect that it has something to do with the sheer filesize of this sheila. I've added it to the buglist, but as per my last update it might take a while to get around to.
am so glad you like it. i spent a lot of time learning and building and i decided to build big! i know that you refresh the server for creature saves but can you please try and keep my little monster in there? that wold be grate! so it happens to you to? weird. i bet soon you will fix it, i bealive in you dude! and you say you dont know were the game was going to head from. well i think the game suld be an egicatonal sim or a sim of evolution. it wold also will seem like it wold have mini games and pvp. and a non milti player level thing.
this game wold make a grate learning tool for schools but i dont think i suld only be just for school stuff
and ever sence ive played this game i want there to be a evolution system where they change there body and mind at the speed you tell it to or it tells itself to do. maby even map disighn and you create a map and see how the critters adapt. maby just use it to watch them change without any interactioon
this game sounds like it wold be extreemly fun with online games. like a battle oreana (love to see levi in there lol) where you fight players or a boss or npcs. or a speed thing. or maby something else like who can eat the most. or who can get all the rocks to the pit or something like that.
levels wold be cool but by levels i mean challanges. like there is a disaster happaning and you need to make something to survive it. or simple things like bild a swimer or a walker. and maybe some defeat a npc (i wanna fight levi lmao)
the game has so much protenchel and you dont have to have it go just one direction. it can be alot of fun stuff all jumbled to one without losing its core components. there are so little games like this. sure theres the bibetes (one witch am currently helping the deve by giving him ideas but am basically just a random that gives him loads of feedback lol) and vilmic... volmoc? vilamic? idk. but there are few games like this one and thoes in general. i wish to see things like the bibites and ceacent loom grow and become big! i want to help but i am limited in programming skills so all i can do i chat with deves and spam thim with bug reports, feedback and ideas. thats bacicaly all i can do but am sure it helps alot. and tbh i wanted to help you like how ive been helping the bibites but i culdent find out how to contact you or anything but here we are. i hope ive helped you so far.

I try very hard to not have to clear out the creature servers (it's only happened twice over the last four years) but sometimes there's no avoiding it. Best I can do is to post a warning to the wicklog before it happens
Adding computer-led evolution has been suggested before but is definitely out-of-scope. I'm more interested in seeing what humans build than what computers build, and the game is already dangerously close to being a fancy fishbowl screensaver. Removing the creature-building wouldn't leave people with much to do, would it? :p
I agree that having a more zoomed-out view of seeing creatures interact (maybe in some kind of map editor?) would be a lot of fun. Same for race & battle modes. Someday, someday...

and i think you mis interpatated what i said. i dident say anything about removing the ability to make creatures. perhaps the feature wold be like this. you make it or load it in from the saves. then you turn on the mutation rate. the default is 0 and when it reproduces its an exact clone of itself. and the higher the setting gose the more forewent mutations it has to its brain and body when it reproduces. i extremely like the idea of biling the creature and i dont wish it to be removed but i think it suld also give you the option to let them evolve if you so please. if you manage to pull off evolution in your game... i think it might just be the most acuret digital evolution thing ive ever seen!
and also you said something in the update log about new body parts. whats that about?
also heres a drawing a made from the games color palet and art stile but with pixels
