Aaah, that makes sense! Xianxia and Wuxia can get quite deep too with intrigue, so it's very understandable. There's something very beautiful about a palace setting too. To be frank, simply retelling an age-old tale works too. It's something people recognize and can take to - very safe, hehe~
Aww, thanks! I have static characters too, since I tend to draw them flat sometimes, which is much quicker and easier. Layers get maddening to work with so I have a lot of separate PSD files for the character builder ones; it's a different experience when making them. It's very interesting to see how you've used and edited even the static ones to suit your mood and narrative, though.
Speaking of which......... are you by chance entering any Game Jams on the site using your new Novella framework? I was just reminded of it because it is Xianxia, which can steep heavily into mythos and legend (kind of like the red thread of fate, celestial fairies and immortals) - it may kind of work with the upcoming Once Upon A Time VN Jam, for example. Though it's something to ask the host, since legends are not always considered fairy tales.
