I have a little complaint about new style of skill icons. Old ones are a bit simple (maybe too simple) but they are distinguishable. They differ in colors and hold less details, it helps to tell one from another.
What I can suggest: color-coding of skills and more simplified (but more complex than v 0.2.3) icons for the skills.
Example: Say gathering skill is color-coded by green. So it will have green progress bar and green-ish icon (apple or grass or maybe just background with a tint of green). It doesn't have to be green tho, just to be consisten about it's color-code. And every other skill the same way.

Rigth now what I can see on screenshots is: Hand, Crystal, Book, Mushroom, Hammer, Something boiling (Cooking? Alchemy?), Something frying (Oh, there is cooking), Glove (or boot? or maybe wings?) - and the last three icons are really hard to read as icons. Don't get me wrong, they are artful and such, but they're too complex (cooking and alchemy) or too dark to see details (agility).

What would I do is to make cooking icon look like a piece of meat. Like, roasted meat. Like in cartoons. Alchemy can be only one glass with something definitely magical inside. Some liquid (maybe glowing), or dryed bat wing, or whatever you want to bet. But one item. Not five of them on the table. And agility can be just a bit more colorful, just to look like something particular.

The screenshots are a bit hard to read in part because of how the post itself shrinks it. When playing the actual game, it's pretty clear (to me anyway) which tasks are which given the icons. That's not to say I won't change them in the future, such as cooking as you've suggested, but it's not as big of a concern as you might imagine. I'll concede on alchemy though, that one is definitely overly detailed. Another change I've made since these screenshots is resolution. Originally, I was going for a somewhat pixelated look for icons but have since switched to just unpixelated icons. Same icons just not pixelated. I am doing a somewhat "final" art pass over the course of the next week though, so I'll keep what you said in the back of my noggin.
