I love that your female protagonists are not stereotypical, but aren't overly extra or over the top different for the sake of it. They are very down to earth - both design and personality - and that's what I like about them. Too much quip and sass ruins it for me. I personally blame international VN authors and translators for Japanese games being fed up with the naive, saintly and emotional fragile typical Japanese Otome heroine for it (who is frankly often an idiot for the sake of plot or drawing out a story). I get the notion, I'm fed up with that too. But a certain balance is nice in characters, especially like the main protagonist, to have.

I think I understand what you mean - it's easy to go too far in the other direction if you're trying to write your protagonist "not like other characters". I'm glad to hear that my MCs feel down to earth and unique though; I just wanted to make each of them a type of woman I hadn't seen in stories before, so it's good to hear I did get the balance right. Thank you for appreciating them 🫡

Yes! A certain over-correction shift happened in the otome community. So it's just really nice to see some tangible female protagonists and authors moving away from this black and white dichotomy when it comes to writing them for otome/visual novel games.
