Very cool idea, great atmosphere! It feels like there's a lot of humor and story here, but I didn't have enough time to explore it in detail. I'll come back another time!
I think a voice over of the character talking to themselves would have been very fun. I also really wanted to turn on the fan on the desk. 😅 But it's a game jam, so I get that time is limited.
Being able to write your own ending was very cool. It is a bit daunting to look at a blank page with a blinking cursor, though. I wonder how it would have felt to assemble the article from (semi)random words and phrases that were given to you, kind of like fridge poetry. Might make it a bit more accessible and create some humor in the results.
Overall great job, a lovely entry!
Nitpicks about the controls:
- The "back" button when examining a piece of "evidence" is in the top left, so I have to move my mouse there and click it. It would be more convenient to close it with another click or have a key shortcut for that
- After examining something, camera rotation is stuck for me until I move. It seems to be limited by how far I could move the cursor on the screen before, if that makes sense? After moving even a bit, rotation is back to normal
- The angle I can look down with is very limited. If something's in front of my feet, I have to take a few steps back to be able to target it. Makes me feel old, somehow.
