Thank you for playing and the detailed feedback :)
We really wanted to add voiceover but we ran out of time unfortunately. I do also like the fridge poetry idea, one cool way to implement this would be to let the player pick on thing from each evidence item that they can then used to fill in the gaps of the final article. That would make it more accessible for everyone I think.
And yes very sorry about the control bugs and missing shortcuts, the overlay screen not closing on click is driving me crazy too. We were glad to not have any game breaking bugs before submitting so we gladly overlooked these haha :)
Thank you haha! Its the 7th year we are doing this so we know the flow. And yeah, we are pretty much made for the job. My sister works as a game dev full time and does a lot of fictional writing on the side and I have a background in graphic design, some audio and some modeling. So what else can you expect from us x)
I just played your game and its so fun! The controls feels very high fidelity which is what that kind of game needs. Very strong for the first time.
I loved this so much! What a funny idea and brilliant execution. I got 100% critics and 87% audience in my best attempt. I didnt understand that the 8 second countdown at the beginning is the action time, I thought I had to play my part when the b/w part came and always wondered why nothing happened hahaha.
There are already many comments here, but I really have to tip my hat to this project. The graphics?! What an original idea. The concept is extraordinary, and the art style really enhances it even further. It’s such a unique way to tell a story, the different fonts are a really clever design choice. The sound design is incredible. It couldn’t be more fitting. Wow!
Amazing! Its such a clever idea to have the party members be the countdown. It was really fun to go through all the levels. I admire the menu being a book and the levels being introduced in such a lyrical way. Very beautiful style. If I had to critique anything Id wish for an even more diverse case of mages, maybe totally unqiue elemets. I wasnt always sure which one is gonna be which element but I guess I couldve memorized the squad quickly beforehand.
So amazing!
Thank you so much for the detailed feedback! Glad you enjoyed it.
I'm glad you pointed those two things out, as they were actually things we were aware of and unsure about as well, haha!
We iterated many designs for the direction buttons and landed on this one as it had theleast visual clutter. But after implementing I kept saying that its too hard to tell them apart. But we didn't really have the time to change it anymore.
And the note sounds is also something we changed 2 or 3 times. I had the same feeling that some combinations felt too dissonant. We tested having the 4 notes be the same but in different octaves or have them be the single parts of a chord, but that also somehow didn't feel quite right either. I think it would have taken a bit more testing of different combinations.
So at least we didn't imagine it haha!
