This is a tricky problem, so let’s say that we reserve the right to disqualify if we see you try to “circumvent” the rules :D
Basically we cannot restrict anyone from using some pieces they used for different projects, reasonably:
- pieces of code you used already,
- some game systems that you made for other projects, like menus, paid assets, music you have license for…
- you don’t have to invent your own programming language or computing architecture :D
To avoid any problems, this is my suggestion if reusing a large portion of your game for multiple jams:
- Make both games separate games on itch - if you upload the same game to SKG Jam and to some other jams - i will not hesitate to disqualify.
- Make sure the games are somewhat different, there HAS TO be a portion made specifically for SKG Jam. If you just copy the same game and upload to two jams and we find out, we will disqualify.
- The best way to prove that you made the game specifically for SKG Jam is to implement the theme.
In any case, before we disqualify we will try to contact you to explain our doubts.
Just try to be fair and it’s going to be ok. In case of doubt disclose stuff like that in “transparency note” and people will consider it during voting. The jam mods and the rules are not out to get the passionate guys who want to create games for two jams at once :D The rules and mods will disqualify people who want to use the jam for private purposes, like getting cheap promotion for their already made games or stuff like that.
