Hey everyone we do this year  something different for the showreel rankings. We have witnessed that it took too long to ask you for your own video game footage. We the  organizers can see the submitted games before the deadline  and  play them, so we will recorded them then. so that is us you see when there is activity 

Also another thing we have witnessed that people changed there name around the game jam when submitted, only when i make the name animation for your games it would relieve a lot if you changed your own usernames after or before the game jam. so we can finish the showreel faster.  

And my philosophy still stand that, we record every game that is created of the jam.

So to be clear for new contesters if the voting process is done we make a showreel and make it youtube premier so everyone can see your games live when the showing is busy. So no need to worry when you don't see the results we are busy that you are showed to the rest of the world. And Last year it was a great success because you see games you otherwise wont see  in a jam because there are so many. 

the top 3 gets 35 seconds of screentime and the rest 10 otherwise it will take a too long ranking. but the top 3 get their own special animation of your game.

so TLDR: We record the game footage, you only have to create the game , vote the game and wait that we are done with the showreel! and then the game jam is finished this year :D  we hope you get a great time here!

Also important if your game was not on time for the deadline and you still want to be showed it as a unranked game. DM DVH  on  Discord if this happens I'm the one that creates the showreel! you send me the videogame footage

Hey everyone we Potato Game Dev and DVH  have a big announcement to make!

We will premiere the Theme of the upcoming Game Jam on Youtube. 

When the movie ends in real life at the exact time the theme will be revealed  at UTC 6:00 pm and the game jam begins.

The pre-event starts on the 17th July @ 05h45 PM UTC

At which point the video revealing the theme for the event will be premiered on DVH YouTube channel.

Hey everyone, we know that we have been awfully quiet the last couple of months. 

But we were busy behind the scenes for a big project. We can’t tell you when we announce the secret project but stayed tuned the couple of days on the itch.io forums and the discord. 

We can tell you that the intent of the project is a big thank you for all the people last game jam. Even me “i’m speaking now as DVH” That it also has widened my horizon. And liked the lively and safe vibes in the discord and the itch.io forums .

We, the organizers, want to create a FAQ section. We believe that when the deadline is close and the pressure is too high, you can use the FAQ as a safety net.

We also need your help creating tutorials for your game engines especially the more obscure ones. A big focus is how to make a web version of your game. We’d also like to include anything that wasn’t clear during the Game Jam.

I would never have thought to be a co-host of this wonderfully community, 

And even an administrator of this discord, personally, I never saw so many talented people in the room. 

An artist of my self, was it a joy to be the administrator of this discord.

Hopefully I was not too harsh or too blunt (can maybe my Dutch bluntness overshadowing me sometimes)

Sorry in advance. If I did offend someone, it was not intentional.  

Furthermore, I wanted to thank the SGK community, Potato game dev and YOU for giving me the trust. To be the graphic designer, video editor and the co-host. If I’m frankly I have heard of a game jam but never witness it myself so close, you also have motivated me to make video games :) so thank you. I have learned a lot of you wonderful people.

Okay, big announcement, we will do together next year a game jam in the summer vacation. Only it Will not be soon because next school year is my exam and want to get my degree for film school. :)  After that, we can host the Next Game Jam. 

And we have then more months before to get a stronger ruleset and work the kinks out.

Sometimes it was stressful because it was for us the first game jam we're hosting.

And didn't know what works and what doesn't.

The Discord Sever will be open and available to ask questions or socialize with your fellow participants. We will admin less on this server. But we will keep a watchful eye but less active.

To be honest, why I was hesitant to confirm or denied if there will be a next game jam, is because in the beginning of the game jam I thought 100% sure to go my own way.

But a lot of you wonderful people have changed my perspective. So thank you. 

And want after my study to continue the game jam tradition. 

We are now busy developing the show-reel, when it is done we will ping everyone for the date. After that it is done for this year's, game jam 🙂
