I worked as a Starbucks Barista for 2 years, and I feel like my Store Manager is lurking over my shoulder, not yelling or upset . . . but disappointed. Who would've thought a pour over could be so difficult! I think this type of game would benefit from a little hand-holding in the beginning to showcase a "perfect" coffee, and then throw you to coffee critic to be shamed. Yura definitely makes the game memorable, but gee, she doesn't like my coffee.
Outside of my inability, the visuals in particular are fantastic. I loved the low-poly 3d models, and all the animations from grinding your beans to the ground coffee raising after your initial pour. There's also a clear tie-in to the theme, and a very creative idea in general.
I think if I were to expand on the coffee making process here (and I apologize if you take offense to my next words), I would add a mini-game of adding sugar and cream, and then having to stir the coffee before handing it off. I'd say the difficulty there would be adding the right amount of sugar / cream, and just duration of stirring (too long & the coffee gets cold, too short and it's not stirred well). While I'm on the topic of expanding on the concept, Yura is great but she's a harsh critic! If you wanted to add progression, maybe go from a average Joe who will drink anything and work your way up to impressing Yura, our Barista mentor.
Anyhow, I'm off to make a coffee! Thank you for the submission, glad I got the chance to play it! :)
