I think in terms of a gag theme and Juniper being a mafia boss of a gambling game, it got a laugh out of me, but gambling mechanics is draggy. Effects are good, but yeah u just keep losing.
I know that is the point of the game, but yeah it's abit ridiculous. U should allow the betting of multiple chips to take advantage of special effects. The point of gambling is then u win u win big but u also lose big, so the one chip system is bad, anyway, u only got 6 chips from the slots mostly, so there's no balance issue if they wanna all in. Just double the boss health.
I also find it rather unintuitive that your "special abilities" take place on the next turn.
I know the point is to teach gambling doesn't pay, but you making a game to entertain also, so do that.
You could just write that they chopped off his hand cause they caught him cheating or something like that, or that they killed his family, or he lost it all again ;)

Thank you for the detailed feedback! I’m glad Juniper as a gambling mafia boss got a laugh out of you.
About betting multiple chips, that limitation is intentional. The chips are not exactly bets to win more chips, they are more like a combat resource used to damage the enemies. I wanted to avoid reinforcing the idea of “bet more to win more”, since the game is also a critique of gambling.
That said, I agree that the gambling part can feel too draggy and frustrating. The game was meant to feel unfair because of the theme, but I may need to improve the pacing, balance, tutorial and feedback so it stays fun too.
I also agree about the special abilities feeling unintuitive without clearer explanation. Thanks for playing and for the honest feedback!
