Viewing post in TrueClash v0.91 is NOW LIVE for Tier 3 Patreons! 🚀 comments
Hey BlackFenrir!
Since you've been following us for such a long time, I thought you might have caught our update here on itch.io and Patreon:
In that post, we talked about the future of TrueClash and the changes that needed to be made to make it all possible.
To sum it up, I recently lost my job, and I need a way to support myself and pay the team that helps make the game. Because of this, we are aiming for a Steam release. However, for that to work, it needs to be a paid game—otherwise, Steam's algorithm simply wouldn't give TrueClash any visibility.
You can read the full details in that devlog, as well as in some older posts where we've been discussing this transition with the community.
I really hope you still get the chance to play more, Fenrir, because I definitely remember you and your enthusiasm from way back.
Thank you for all the support!
Hey DnAJG,
Yes, the game will definitely be coming to Steam, complete with achievements and all that good stuff (at least, that's the plan we want to implement!). We still need to finish wrapping a few things up before enabling the wishlist page, but once it's ready, I will let you guys know right away.
As for censorship, I really don't want the game to be censored. I've been advised to look into creating different patches—a censored version for the store and an uncensored patch for players to download—but that is something I still need to study and understand how to handle properly. My goal is to have the NSFW content integrated directly into Season 1 for the Steam release.
Thanks for the support!
I see—you're turning the game into a one-time purchase release. However, visual novels don't usually command a high enough price point on Steam (they often end up undervalued unless you create a massive game and sell it for a typical, relatively low visual novel price).
That’s why most devs and teams prefer a chapter-based system via Patreon: release to Patreon first, then add the chapter for free the following month while releasing the next Patreon chapter, continuing "indefinitely" until the story concludes.
In any case, I understand and respect the team's choice, so I'll be looking forward to the game's official, final release :3
I look forward to seeing the game continue to grow and following the story of the characters I like so much :D
